The werewolves' internal order had fallen into chaos.

From top to bottom, from Aton, the silver-furred Monarch, to the gray-furred cannon-fodder werewolves below, all of them were furious at the traitor. Yet because High Priest Udi was still alive, the entire werewolf population had become a mess.

Where did their individual conflicts lie? The werewolves of every clan were constantly suspicious of their own clan. Otherwise, why had their leader not killed the traitor? Then, when they heard other clans roaring that traitors had been devoured, they became even more convinced that those other clans were purer werewolves than their own.

This led to population movement between clans, which naturally caused endless brawls throughout every clan over matters like, "You stole my clansman."

At any other time, this would never have happened. But now, every one of the werewolves' shortcomings had gathered here, naturally creating this change. As for leaving one's clan to join another...

When no one cared, it was not considered betrayal. After all, when werewolves joined another clan, that clan's leader would be delighted. Likewise, werewolves from other clans would enter this one, and the werewolf leader would not pass up an opportunity to increase his numbers.

Then it was no longer betrayal. Instead, it became a righteous judgment against those who refused to punish traitors.

Abandoning darkness for the light. How could true werewolves permit traitors to exist? The whole world knew that wolf packs were the most united. They would even risk their lives to protect the old, weak, women, and children—something even humans could not achieve.

As long as High Priest Udi remained alive, everyone was worthy of suspicion, especially Aton, the Werewolf Monarch.
