Crows and Wizards, the First Otherworldly Plane Covered by the Northlands
Heilrik looked down at the "ground" made of tree roots beneath his feet. Its boundaries were the trees floating on the sea's surface. It looked more like some kind of grand magic array.
He was no ignorant country bumpkin. After seeing this, he became even less willing to enter the nearby Planar Gate. He wanted more information—if he was not going to die, that was.
"You all..."
Before he could finish, a crow whipped up a gale and shoved him straight into the Planar Gate.
"Send someone who can make decisions to speak with us, you deceitful brat."
That voice was far more imposing than before.
At the foot of Rhino Horn Mountain, Ryan listened to the intelligence Heilrik had brought back and fell into thought.
"Crows? Natives?"
Ryan turned his gaze toward Brandt.
Miklagard.
The sea wind howled while the surface remained calm. Several crows, seemingly devoid of any concept of time yet carrying faint anticipation, watched the Planar Gate until Brandt arrived. He floated in the sky, and with a downward stroke of his sword, tore apart the root-covered ground beneath him.
"A Legendary?"
"Damn it, why is it a Legendary?"
"The two worlds have only overlapped for a few days. How did the other side react so quickly?"
Legendary was not merely the name of a transcendent realm. It represented a standing that countless lives had to look up to.
The crows lost their composure, flapping wildly through the air before quickly landing again.
Brandt did not attack, because he sensed that this root-covered ground was not some magic array. It merely gave humans who could not fly a place to stand.
So there really was no hostility?
"What are you?"
