Aven was nearly crazed with the desire to learn about that Deity, making even Ryan feel somewhat alarmed.
"Lord Ryan, do you know why that madwoman Lan chanted the Forbidden Magic, Seal the Deities, in Hot Spring Province?"
Aven let out a sinister laugh.
"She wanted to devour the Deity's authority. After all, it was rare to encounter a great existence whose authority resembled her magic. Unfortunately, her method of ascending to Demigod failed."
"Lord Ryan, surely you don't think Lan truly wanted to die beneath a Deity's Origin Backlash? If she could live, why would she be willing to die?"
"Everything she did was merely for the sake of becoming a Demigod."
"The Empire portrayed her as a brave Empire Martyr, but I knew the truth. She was nothing more than a failure who died."
Become a Demigod?
Ryan did not seem particularly surprised by this answer. He was not familiar with that Lord Eternal Silence Mage, either.
Moreover, he had never shared this world's common belief that Demigods could not ascend any further.
"So, Lord Aven, you too are doing this to ascend to Demigod?"
"Of course. I no longer know how to advance upon the path of legendary magic. No matter how much Life Magic I innovate now, its rank and power are insufficient. It is merely like growing new branches endlessly from a great tree."
"What I need is to make my Tree of Life taller and larger, to grow a thicker trunk."
"Only the life essence of Deities, of great existences, can help me."
"So, Lord Aven, you also have your own method of attempting to become a Demigod, just like Lord Lan did."
"I am not like that madwoman."
Aven said coldly:
"She has already failed, proving that her magical philosophy was a failure.
