Enormous slabs of stone collapsed. In this stone forest, they were like the first domino to fall, one giant rock after another swaying on the brink before crashing down onto the earth.

The battlefield was filled with all kinds of voices. No one had the attention to spare for the distance; even those close by could only huddle together and kill the Abyssal Servants that kept charging at them.
The enemy outnumbered them by more than three to one. Though their combat strength was low and they had no reason, this was already a battle of endurance. All those days marching through The Wilds, all that precious beast meat they had eaten—it had all been to build their ability to hold on.
The knight instructor had said more than once that on the battlefield, whoever could make their strength last longer would survive.
Exhaustion was terrifying. What was even more terrifying was everyone except you being exhausted, so they needed to learn to cooperate and make sure their strength was distributed reasonably.
"Put your backs to the rocks! Those monsters will charge up on their own!"
Between life and death, a person's limits were most easily forced out.
