"Can you do it?"
Ryan was willing to appear on the battlefield alone to lure out the Elven Commander because he wanted to add as many chips as possible to his chances of victory. It was a gain, and it was also a risk. The other side wanted to behead the leader, to end the war and claim victory by killing him. And Ryan was just as confident that he would not die.
The [Spiritual Realm] spread silently. A faint clear glow appeared around Brandt, and his body of flesh and blood began to sublime. From within his bones came the sound of tides, waves of immortal vital blood that would let him remain at the peak of his combat strength until the very end of his life.
Moonlight Essence descended from the sky. Radiance spilled down everywhere, turning into phantom Elven Rangers that charged at Brandt from all directions. Amid the silver glow, a blood-colored stag roared. Brandt swung his sword, cleaving through those illusory shadows, while Felix hid among them, able to swap places with any phantom Elven Ranger and deliver a fatal strike.
Legendary power collided in an instant. Every soldier from both sides who had charged up was flung away, and no one knew how many loyal unlucky souls died in the process of falling.
Ordinary armies had no right to get anywhere near a battle between Legendaries. The Stag Legion had charged in all the way from afar, while on their flank, the Elven Guard wove through the battlefield like a storm. From time to time, Elven Guard soldiers would seize an opening, leap up, and kill their way into the Stag Legion. Some occasionally succeeded, but in the vast majority of cases, they were pierced through by spear after spear while still in midair.
