The Event Begins

Yang Xiao spotted Izuku Midoriya not far ahead. He had no intention of going over to greet him and simply kept walking on his own.

"Move aside..."

As Yang Xiao observed U.A. High School, a somewhat rough voice came from behind him. When he turned around, he saw a head of fluffy, explosive khaki-colored hair. Who else could it be but Katsuki Bakugo?

Was this guy like this even toward strangers?

That was what Yang Xiao thought, but he still stepped aside. There was no need to clash with Katsuki Bakugo. They would be classmates from now on, after all.

When Katsuki Bakugo saw Yang Xiao sensibly make way, a hint of relief and confusion appeared in his eyes. However, he quickly tossed both thoughts aside and shouted at Izuku Midoriya ahead of him, "Move it, Deku!"

"Kacchan?" Izuku Midoriya knew that voice well. When he turned around, he saw Katsuki Bakugo walking toward him.

"Don't block my path, or I'll kill you!" Katsuki Bakugo said with a frown, his tone aggressive.

Yet to Yang Xiao, this scene seemed familiar. A very familiar opening line, practically identical.

"G-good morning... Do your best. Both of us..." Izuku Midoriya was as flustered as ever when facing Katsuki Bakugo, but Katsuki Bakugo walked past without even giving him a glance.

Apparently, some people nearby recognized Katsuki Bakugo as the protagonist of the Sludge Incident and stared at him in surprise.

However, Katsuki Bakugo paid no attention to their gazes and continued forward on his own.

Yang Xiao also stopped paying attention to the two of them and headed onward.

U.A. High School's Hero Course was a training school for obtaining the qualifications required of a Pro Hero. Among similar programs nationwide, it was the most popular and also the most difficult.

Its competition rate exceeded 300 every year. All Might, the No. 1 hero who had been nominated for the National Honor Award yet firmly declined it.

Endeavor, the flame hero with the highest number of resolved cases in history.

Crust, who had won Best Jeanist for eight consecutive years.

To become a great hero, graduating from U.A. was an essential condition. That was why so many people came seeking its name, desperate to enter this high school even if they had to fight tooth and nail.

Yang Xiao entered the venue along with the crowd. The location of this examination hall had been made public to the applicants, and Yang Xiao knew that Present Mic would give a pre-exam pep talk.

Present Mic was U.A. High School's English teacher, also known as the Voice Hero. He had been classmates with Shota Aizawa during their student days.

He served as the live commentator during entrance exams and the Sports Festival, liked to call students "listeners," and had one fatal weakness: he was especially afraid of insects.

After casually finding a seat, Yang Xiao lazily leaned back and waited for Present Mic. The people around him were all strangers, and most of them were background characters. Yang Xiao had no interest in speaking to them...

Wait...

Yang Xiao had not seen clearly who was beside him earlier, but when the guy turned his head, Yang Xiao recognized him immediately. No, not only did he know this person, he was extremely familiar with him.

Tenya Iida!

His personality was exceptionally serious. During the entrance exam, he had been deeply displeased when Izuku Midoriya muttered to himself during the practical test and sternly reprimanded him for it. In class, he had also strongly objected to Katsuki Bakugo putting his feet on the desk and stepped in to stop him. He immediately recognized his own mistakes and apologized for them. He was so overly serious that even his walking posture was strange.

In short, Tenya Iida was an extremely serious person. Sometimes he was downright rigid, or perhaps just single-minded.

Tenya Iida merely glanced at Yang Xiao before no longer paying attention to him. Yang Xiao also had no intention of greeting Tenya Iida. It was best to let things happen naturally. There was no need to get overly excited upon meeting for the first time.

"Welcome, all examinee listeners, to my live show today."

Once everyone had arrived, Present Mic walked out. The moment he appeared, he spoke as though the entire venue revolved around him, and everyone's eyes focused on him.

Yang Xiao had observed the people around him earlier and had looked over nearly everyone present. He had not discovered any other transmigrators among them, which meant that perhaps he was the only one entering U.A. High School.

The other three transmigrators might be overseas, in other factions, or perhaps entering U.A. High School as Recommended students?

Yang Xiao did not need to worry about that for now. As long as other transmigrators entered U.A. High School, that meant they were in the same faction, so there was nothing to worry about.

Even if no other transmigrators entered U.A. High School, it would be fine. Yang Xiao could develop gradually while looking into the whereabouts of the other three. However, Yang Xiao knew it would be much easier for the other three transmigrators to find out where he was.

"Everybody, say hey!"

Present Mic picked up the microphone. After saying that in English to everyone, he waited for a response, but no one paid him any attention.

"What a drag..." Present Mic spread his hands and continued, "Now then, examinee listeners, I'll briefly explain the outline of the practical test."

Basically, all examinees would take part in a ten-minute Battle Center simulation. They could bring any items they wanted, and everyone would head to their assigned simulation venues.

The training grounds contained three categories of numerous mock enemies, each assigned a corresponding score according to its difficulty level.

The goal was to use their Quirks to defeat the mock enemies and earn points.

Attacking other people, an act contrary to the spirit of heroism, was strictly prohibited.

At this point in Present Mic's explanation, Tenya Iida, who was seated beside Yang Xiao, suddenly said loudly, "I have a question. May I raise it?"

Although Yang Xiao knew Tenya Iida would say this, he was still startled. Why was this guy's voice so loud? Sitting beside him was hard on the ears.

"OK!" Present Mic allowed Tenya Iida to speak. A beam of light instantly shone down on him, and everyone turned to look his way.

Yang Xiao shifted his butt farther to the side, putting a little more distance between himself and Tenya Iida. Tenya Iida held up an examinee information sheet and said, "There are four kinds of mock enemies listed on this sheet. If this is an error, then it would be a disgrace to U.A., the number one school in Japan. We examinees came to this test site seeking the guidance of exemplary heroes."

Tenya Iida suddenly changed the subject, turned around, pointed at Izuku Midoriya, and loudly declared, "And another thing, you curly-haired student over there!"

"Ah?" Izuku Midoriya awkwardly pointed at himself, as if asking, Me?

Tenya Iida was clearly referring to Izuku Midoriya. "You have been muttering to yourself this entire time. It is utterly undisciplined. If you came here intending to sightsee, then please leave immediately."

Izuku Midoriya immediately covered his mouth. He had not expected to embarrass himself on his very first day at U.A. High School. How awkward.

Although Yang Xiao understood Tenya Iida's personality very well, he was still affected by his stern attitude. This guy was truly rigid to the core, yet somehow adorable beneath that stiffness. He was an adorable boy with a serious demeanor.
