The two young cops had never seen a battle between monsters like this. They had barely seen any serious action at all. Three or five guns trading fire on the street was already a huge deal. Mass brawls were hardly common in Europe or America, let alone monsters fighting monsters.
The elderly couple, on the other hand, had lived through World War II, trenches, and the brink of death. What sort of spectacle hadn't they seen? With bullets whistling past their ears and shells raining from the sky, they had still needed to shave, eat, and sleep, then seize their chance to strike back as though nothing had happened.
Yet the two who had survived those years didn't mock the young cops. Instead, they gave them hearty smiles. "Stay by the police car, kids. Keep your heads down. You'll be all right."
Having changed their magazines, the two raised their guns and resumed firing, advancing with their shields held high.
