Professor Curt Connors was ultimately far more composed than those young students. He did not rush to test whether the decay-rate algorithm was viable as soon as he obtained it.
Instead, he waited until Gwen Stacy and the other student had no classes before bringing them both to Oscorp's laboratory.
Curt Connors introduced them. "Gwen, this is—"
"Peter Parker. I know. The famous king of truancy."
The tall boy who had been named could only smile wryly. He could hardly explain to the professors that he had been going around maintaining public safety as Spider-Man.
Curt Connors was not surprised in the least. As he switched on the laboratory lights and computers, he said, "It seems you already know each other. The reason he is here is simple: he needs credits.
"Some time ago, he came to discuss a topic concerning cells altered by a reverse virus with me, and he did have quite a few groundbreaking ideas. I wanted to take this opportunity to tell him about some things as I understand them."
After opening a file on one of the computers, Curt Connors said to the boy visiting the laboratory for the first time, "Mr. Parker, this is a briefing on the research. Read through it first and familiarize yourself with it."
"Yes, Professor Connors."
"Gwen, prepare the simulation program. I'll make the other preparations."
"Okay, Professor."
Because Curt Connors also had teaching duties at the university, the laboratory was not staffed every day. Today happened to be the day the assistants had gone to support other laboratories, so no one else was around. Curt Connors could only handle the preparations himself.
Naturally, he also had to confirm that the laboratory mice were in normal condition. If the computer simulation succeeded, they would immediately proceed to animal testing.
