George held out his hand, and the guilt-ridden girl obediently offered up the Reverse Serum without a second thought.
"If you're not going home, stay here. If this thing really works on Spider-Man, I'll take it up myself."
George Stacy casually called over his old partner. "William, keep an eye on this girl. I'll go up and check the situation myself. Contact me by radio if anything happens."
The senior officer who had been called over shook the radio in his hand, while George Stacy raised one of his own in acknowledgment. After slipping it into his coat pocket, he grabbed a shotgun and headed for the construction elevator.
Only then did Gwen realize she had been tricked!
If her police-chief father didn't believe her, why was he taking the serum into the building? It was clearly just an excuse to keep her from interfering!
By the time Gwen figured it out, it was already too late to stop her father. She could only watch helplessly as he rode the construction elevator up the high-rise, regret and a shadow of unease flashing through her heart. It felt as though something terrible was about to happen.
As the construction elevator carried him upward, George Stacy had no doubts that the antidote in his hand would work. His daughter had brought it, after all.
Some of his own officers had also been poisoned by the Lizard Serum and entered the mutation stage. Logically, George Stacy should have used the antidote on his subordinates.
But there was only one dose, and he had no idea how much each person needed. Nor did he know how many people the serum could treat.
