Yu Hai sailed from Orange Island to Kanto, planning to gather Pokémon with combination evolutions for future research while calculating the enormous costs. Meanwhile, Xiao Ying learned Yu Hai had gone to Kanto and prepared to follow him to the Indigo League with a Water Stone for Poliwhirl.

• Yu Hai boarded an overnight ship from Orange Island to Kanto and arranged for his Pokémon to guard the cabin.
• Yu Hai calculated his expenses and considered researching combination evolutions involving Slowpoke, Dugtrio, Magneton, Weezing, and Wingull, but decided to catch the Pokémon first.
• Luo Yan sold contraband to the Old Drunkard for twelve million and revealed that Yu Hai had gone to Kanto.
• The Old Drunkard told Xiao Ying about Yu Hai’s destination, and Xiao Ying decided to travel to Kanto and gave him a high-grade Water Stone left by his father.
• Xiao Ying prepared to leave for Kanto, determined to meet Yu Hai again and compete alongside him.
