The woman standing before Seiya, who called herself Seiya's mother, was named Wenren Yuko.

However, Wenren Yuko had only just turned Twenty. She was not Seiya's real mother, merely his guardian who had adopted him.

Since the brothers had no other relatives, after his older brother's death, Seiya became a true orphan.

Seiya's older brother had died because of Yuko's sister, while Seiya himself had saved her sister. Thus, Yuko resolutely adopted Seiya and liked to call herself Seiya's "mother."

Although Ako had not died, her severe injuries had left her in a prolonged coma, and the cost of her continued treatment was enormous.
