The air all around them was scorching, and the sweat on their bodies seemed capable of evaporating in an instant... The Siren Maiden even felt her throat drying out, leaving her miserable.
"Put... put me down..."
"You're awake?"
She had no choice but to stop and look at the Underwater City Witch she was carrying on her back... Although Liuge had woken up, Helen could clearly feel that her body still seemed to be in some kind of rigid state.
"You can't move?"
"Waking up was already difficult enough..." the Underwater City Witch said with a bitter smile. "It's like being under a powerful hypnotic spell. It keeps trying to make me fall asleep."
"He probably did it so you wouldn't resist too much."
Even so, Helen set Liuge down, letting her sit against the trunk of a large tree.
Liuge raised her head and looked at the blue light in the night sky that was fighting against the darkness... Its flickering radiance illuminated both her and Helen, like the light of fireworks.
"Perhaps... this is what he truly wanted." The Underwater City Witch suddenly sighed. "Your name is Helen, right... When did Louis come into contact with you?"
The Siren Maiden thought for a moment before answering, "About a month ago... That was when we had just left our original hiding place and set out for the deep sea."
"A month ago?" Liuge frowned, then shook her head. "It seems this plan was probably conceived on the spur of the moment... A month ago, Reyaz was still completely ordinary. There was nothing unusual about him."
"You... had been monitoring him for a long time?" Helen opened her mouth and asked tentatively.
"Everything about him had been recorded since the day he was born." The Underwater City Witch spoke calmly.
