"Do you know how many Function Cards there are in the deck?" Mr. Vali asked abruptly.

"How would I know? This is your board and your card box!"

"An infinite number!" Mr. Vali said calmly. "The Function Cards in the deck box keep generating. They never run out. But certain special cards exist in fixed quantities... With the setup you described your opponent having, even I might not manage to assemble it once in a hundred games."

"What... what are you getting at?" Cardile frowned again. He sensed a certain distrust in Mr. Vali's words.

"Nothing." Mr. Vali shook his head. "I'm merely curious how a master playing the board game for the first time managed to draw a combination of cards with a probability of success infinitely close to zero."

"That's easy enough to resolve," Cardile said coolly. "Give me more of your legacy, let me beat them, and then you can question them yourself. The board is yours. However powerful the opponent is, surely you have some way to deal with them? I can kill myself and start over, change classes again, or use some special item that guarantees victory... Why fuss over it?"
