A thunderclap crashed down. The flickering lightning gave the dim rainforest a rare glimmer of silver... silver that had stripped away all color.
The woman's face was ashen, and her body trembled from being drenched by the rain. Yet out of concern, she held her child tightly.
The mother and son were like abandoned animals. Their clothes barely covered their bodies, and they had only a large banana leaf over their heads.
The woman pleaded, "Could you give us some food...? You don't have to give me any. Please, just give my child a mouthful of hot soup."
Rumble--!
Lightning.
"Excuse me, could I borrow a light?"
Klaus's gaze trembled slightly. He stared expressionlessly at the black-haired young man before him and said indifferently, "Help yourself."
A mage-class profession walking alone through a crisis-ridden rainforest was an extremely dangerous thing—of course, if that mage was powerful enough, it would be a different story.
Klaus was actually quite skilled at gathering intelligence. For example, he took an interest in organizing information about the players ranked in the top three hundred on the combat leaderboard.
The information was certainly incomplete. Some players were extremely mysterious and rarely appeared in public. After several version updates on the Emerald Continent, players had long since gained the ability to hide their names.
Some people did not enable that function, while others were quite happy to do so.
Mage.
That was the name Klaus had seen for this black-haired young man—or perhaps it was merely an ID.
Of course, Klaus was no better. The ID he displayed was only the two words "Gunner."
Klaus subconsciously observed the other man. Even while walking through such a terrible rainforest, the young man's body bore no trace of having stepped through the mud... He was very clean, clean
