Near dusk, rain began falling in the village.

Klaus figured he had probably grown used to this kind of terrible weather. The moment he raised his head, the drizzling rain made him shiver.

"You'll get sick."

A black umbrella appeared before Klaus, blocking the gray, hazy sky within his view.

He lowered his gaze and looked at the Nun before him... Laila.

"Why did you come out by yourself? Are you feeling all right?" The Nun looked concerned. "If you feel uncomfortable anywhere..."

"What are they doing?" Klaus suddenly pointed ahead. There was a large compound built halfway up the mountain, essentially serving as an ancestral shrine.

This custom was extremely common in this rainforest region, which had been ravaged by war.

What Klaus was asking about was how the adults in the village were constantly bringing the children from their homes inside.

"Checking their health." Sister Laila smiled faintly. "When Father Alai came last time, quite a few children in the village had fallen ill. It was malaria. Fortunately, Father Alai came and treated them in time. He's checking on their condition now."

"That Priest really is a good man." Klaus nodded, then asked curiously, "You've been active around here, helping the local villagers. Where do your supplies come from?"

"Donations, of course." Sister Laila smiled. "Actually, besides Father Alai, quite a few other missionaries are traveling around here as well."

"Does it help?" Klaus shook his head. "Even if you spread your teachings across every inch of this place, you still can't stop the shells from falling. The peace granted by faith will ultimately be destroyed by merciless bombardment."

"We just do what we can." Sister Laila spoke softly. "I suppose that's the feeling."

Klaus couldn't help frowning as his gaze examined the Nun's cuff... the perfectly intact
