The convoy was about to enter the Long Bridge, the passage connecting Huoyun City's old and new districts. It spanned 9.7 kilometers.
"Director Ximen, the convoy is about to cross the bridge. How's the road situation?"
From the vehicle at the front, Liu Jinghe's voice came through the internal communicator... Ximen Ka quickly responded.
"Since last night, we've stationed people at every point on the bridge. We've inspected the road three times, and there's also a water ghost team patrolling beneath the river."
"Good."
The call ended quickly. Ximen Ka ate several mint pellets, then reached a hand out of the window and signaled for the Iron Riders clearing the way ahead to cross first.
At the same time, four armed fighter jets weaved across the Long Bridge... land, sea, and air had all been placed under tight guard.
In truth, there was no need for such a grand display. If safety was the concern, they could have simply held the meeting at Huo Mansion... or somewhere nearby.
"A political show... As expected, it's still too wasteful of manpower and resources."
"Director, keep your voice down."
Even so, his subordinate beside him still wore an excited expression. After all, taking part in this security operation would add an impressive entry to his résumé.
"How's the situation?" Ximen Ka ignored him and merely knocked on the roof of the vehicle.
A fairly large Shar-Pei spirit hound was crawling across the roof. Sensing its master's signal, the spirit hound lazily patted the vehicle with its paw in reply.
Ximen Ka felt somewhat reassured. He was more willing to trust his spirit hound squad... Once the convoy had crossed more than half the bridge, the Shar-Pei spirit hound suddenly raised its head.
"Ximen, I smell dead people."
"What happened?" Ximen Ka's brow furrowed.
