Curiosity Killed the Cat
Just as the two researchers who had sneaked out had said, this research institute was nearly abandoned.
Liu Jinghe didn't take long to search the entire floor. Almost everything had already been moved out, leaving nine empty rooms out of ten. Only one or two rooms were relatively normal, probably where the remaining staff worked day to day... There was even some dirt and clutter.
He couldn't help feeling disappointed... It seemed Vega really didn't know what was going on in this research institute.
Today, Liu Jinghe had deliberately disguised himself, completely changing his appearance. Even if he were caught on a hidden camera, his identity wouldn't be exposed... He could afford to be a little bolder, so he entered the two rooms that showed signs of activity.
One was an office, but there weren't many records. He only found a work log, jointly written by the remaining staff.
—Nothing happened today.
—Nothing happened today.
—Damn it, we're out of coffee beans. When will the supplies arrive?
They were all trivial, irrelevant matters... Liu Jinghe shook his head and hurried to the other room. It looked like an employee lounge—and it was even simpler.
However, he found another diary in one of the beds... Judging from the opening, it had probably been written by one of the remaining staff members, who had started recording things out of boredom after the research institute was emptied.
This diary was more interesting than the work log. It recorded the employee's thoughts and feelings during this period... It had apparently begun seven or eight years ago.
—I regret it... I really can't see any hope.
—Could it be that the research really won't be restarted?
—That's true... After all, the most important specimen has already disappeared... So many people vanished
