A torrential rain fell through the night.
Mr. Orphi held a black umbrella and glanced at the lights in front of the compound gate before walking inside without a word. This was a hidden office site belonging to the department under his command.
From the outside, it looked like nothing more than a relatively high-end apartment building, but there was more to it than met the eye.
The corridor lights had not been replaced in a long time, leaving the passage dim. Water dripped from the tip of his umbrella, forming a broken line of droplets.
There were also wet footprints.
He opened a door and walked inside, then opened a cabinet in the wall before entering the elevator hidden within. At last, he arrived at the office site beneath the apartment building.
The bright lights immediately improved Mr. Orphi's oppressed mood somewhat. The busy work environment, filled with security personnel, also invigorated him.
