The village clinic was somewhat shabby, but the doctor had already promised to do everything he could to save the old Nun. Even so, Charlotte waited anxiously outside.
Perhaps out of a believer's habit, Charlotte was clutching a cross. She knelt before the window at the end of the corridor and prayed silently.
Lucifer could not stray too far from the two Nuns, so she could only lean against the wall in boredom, watching a little spider in the corner pounce on its prey while thinking about what would happen if the old Nun being treated inside could not be saved.
Although she could not take the initiative to attack the two Nuns, it would be a different matter if they died naturally. If the old Nun who restricted her range were gone, then all she had to do was avoid Charlotte...
Just as she was thinking this, the doctor finally came out of the room. He removed the mask from his face, revealing a tired expression.
Hearing the movement, Charlotte hurriedly stood up and walked over to the doctor.
The doctor let out a breath and said with a frown, "We've finally gotten through the most dangerous period, but the situation isn't optimistic. Charlotte, you should know that the conditions here are simply too poor."
"Should we send the Nun to a hospital in the city? Can we contact the hospital there and have an ambulance come over?" Charlotte asked hurriedly.
The doctor said helplessly, "Charlotte, even hospitals in big cities have limited resources. I've already had someone contact them. The ambulances from several hospitals have all been dispatched, but the fastest one probably won't arrive until tonight. Given the Nun's current condition, I'm afraid that may be too late."
"How can that be..." Charlotte became increasingly frantic. "How
