When Solomon and Daji, traveling as a two-person team, found Long Yang Jun, he was sitting at the edge of a desolate land with his eyes closed, playing an instrument called a sheng.
Daji was no stranger to the sheng. Having once lived in the imperial palace, she had had her own team of musicians, as well as a teacher.
Solomon, however, was clearly rather curious. He could not help looking twice at the strange instrument. Although they all lived in the Dimensional Rift, the Transcenders were not closely connected to one another.
If not for the urgency of the Throne Room, they usually remained apart. Of course, some Transcenders did have closer or more distant personal friendships with one another.
Solomon knew Long Yang Jun existed, but they rarely exchanged more than a few words. Whenever they met, they merely greeted each other. Daji, on the other hand, had a fairly good private relationship with Long Yang Jun.
"Long Yang Jun, I've sought you out many times because I wanted to hear you play a song." Daji smiled faintly. "But even a thousand pieces of gold couldn't buy such a performance. What happened today to put you in such an elegant mood?"
Long Yang Jun lowered the sheng in his hands, rose, and smiled as he nodded toward Daji. "I merely played what I felt. If Empress Dowager likes it, Longyang will certainly come to your door and perform for you another day."
Daji smiled sweetly, radiating endless charm. It was as though this woman possessed a special allure granted by heaven. Even Transcenders found it difficult to resist.
Most of the time, Solomon could only do his best not to look into Daji's eyes. It was not that his willpower was insufficiently firm, but that Daji's power came
