"How would I know?" Xie Yuanxun placed the plastic bag on the table and took out the boxed meals from the cafeteria.
Song He froze, thinking, Are you putting on an act for me?
"Ordinary people can't get access to the interrogation process." Xie Yuanxun grinned. "Black Glasses gave me a little information. He knew what was happening in the interrogation room, but he didn't say much. Saying more would violate discipline."
"So does that mean we won't know what the spy confessed even after the interrogation ends?" Song He asked, opening his box and grabbing his chopsticks to wolf down the food.
"We should be able to find out the general picture, but they might not tell us the sensitive details. Tomorrow morning, we'll take a bag of fruit to the hospital to visit Black Glasses and ask him about it." Xie Yuanxun chewed noisily. "Black Glasses said we'd probably be given an honor. It should be approved soon, so we have something to really look forward to."
"What could they give us?" Song He asked curiously. "Little Expert at Catching Spies?"
"Little Expert at Catching Spies is impossible. That's an exclusive honorary title, the highest honor." Xie Yuanxun explained, "The military's honor standards are very strict. Have you ever looked into them?"
"No. Why don't you tell me, Teacher Xie?"
"The most likely thing we'll receive is a Merit Citation, the lowest grade of honor in the military. Usually, around twenty or so crack soldiers in a company can receive one. Don't think the lowest-grade honor isn't valuable. Think about it: soldiers have to undergo harsh training, crawling, rolling, and fighting for one or two years before they can receive that honor, while we got ours after one afternoon of hard work. That's an incredible bargain!"
"True!" Song
