Frontier Technology University, Song He's dormitory.
The room door opened. The master and disciple entered, reeking of alcohol and dragging suitcases behind them. With two loud bangs, they set the suitcases on the floor.
Song He reached for the suitcase zipper but was suddenly stopped by Xiang Xiaotong's hand.
"Don't open it yet. Let's make a bet first!" Xiang Xiaotong said with a wicked grin. "Let's bet on whether there are a hundred people who chose the profit-sharing option. I bet there aren't."
"I bet there are!" Song He said decisively. "Out of four hundred people, surely at least a quarter trust me, right? What are we betting?"
"Let me think..." Xiang Xiaotong hesitated. "I don't have anything good to bet for now."
Song He was speechless. "You don't have anything to bet, yet you eagerly wanted to make a bet? Are you drunk?"
"Let's bet on a wish. Whoever loses has to fulfill one reasonable wish for the other person."
"What counts as reasonable? What if you go back on your word?"
"It's just a verbal bet. Do you want us to draw up a contract too? Put yourself in my shoes, okay?"
"Fine, then we'll bet on one reasonable wish!" Song He was persuaded.
They opened the suitcase. A sparse stack of profit-sharing contracts lay inside, and Song He nervously began counting them.
Soon, he finished counting once, and his expression changed slightly.
Xiang Xiaotong narrowed her eyes. She had been watching him count from the side. "Ninety-nine?"
"How did I count a hundred? It can't be that coincidental, can it?" Unwilling to accept defeat, Song He insisted while recounting them.
This time, master and disciple counted together, silently reciting the numbers.
"One, two, three, four..."
"Fifty-six, fifty-seven, fifty-eight..."
"Ninety-seven, ninety-eight, ninety-nine!"
