Li Lu had thought he could find his own seat, allowing him to sneak off into a corner in the back rows.
But today's occasion was even more formal than he had expected. Nameplates stood on every table, and worst of all, the classroom seating was divided into three large sections. On the edge of the first row in the middle section, the nameplate clearly read "Li Lu"!
His hands and feet went weak as he walked to his seat. Then, on a sudden whim, he reached out to grab the nameplate, trying to switch places with the person behind him.
The nameplate did not budge. Looking closer, he saw that it was actually fixed in place with screws. Clearly, this was a dedicated conference room that often hosted events requiring nameplates, so the plates were permanently attached to the tables... Perhaps he could replace the paper bearing the name?
Li Lu sat down and nervously fiddled with it for a long while. He gave up in despair—the name paper would not come out no matter what he did.
More and more volunteers entered through the door, each wearing a different expression. Some were so nervous that their faces had flushed pale and red, while most were extremely excited. Everyone sat properly in their assigned seats, waiting and chatting quietly with those beside them.
Li Lu finally found the nameplate's mechanism. It was actually beneath the table. With one press, the entire nameplate popped open with a click. As though he had seized a lifeline, he hurriedly grabbed the name paper, only to turn around and go completely dumbfounded.
They were all occupied!
The entire large classroom was packed tightly with people. There was no chance of changing seats anymore!
