Fan Tao took out the car keys and pressed the unlock button. The massive SUV flashed its lights. "This one!"
Song He exclaimed, "You're a female student driving such a wild car? Are you some kind of rich heiress?"
"My dad's car. He went to the UAE on a business trip, so I'm borrowing it for two days."
Fan Tao opened the door and climbed in. She quickly folded the rear seats flat, spread a large plastic sheet over them, and laid the big shovel across the back row.
"You drive?" Fan Tao asked, handing him the keys.
"I don't have a license!" Song He froze.
"Why didn't you get one?" Fan Tao asked in surprise, lifting a leg as she sat in the driver's seat.
Song He carried his buns into the passenger seat. "Did your morning run scramble your brain? I'm under eighteen. I can't get a driver's license."
Fan Tao froze for a moment before starting the SUV. "I forgot you're a high school student. These past few days, you've been running the laboratory, so subconsciously, I started treating you like a fellow graduate student. Last night, when you operated the equipment, we all said privately that you had exactly the bearing of a senior graduate student. Even the professors said you were born to do research."
"Are you buttering me up?"
"Yes."
"You got it wrong. You should be treating me like a professor." Song He said.
Fan Tao was speechless. "Do you get winded the moment someone calls you fat?"
"I cultivate engineered bacteria that professors can't keep alive, and I make antibiotics that professors can't produce. What's the problem?" Song He took out a meat bun and gnawed on it. "Drive toward the coast."
