This book was uploaded in February 2023, went paid in March, and has been written up to today—a span of nearly two and a half years. Personally, I think that is truly rare.
When it went paid, it had only gone through two rounds of new-book recommendations. Its first-day subscriptions numbered two hundred, which was a very poor result. But this was my first fairly decent book on Qidian, so I persevered and kept writing.
At the beginning, I was churning out ten thousand characters a day—madly doing ten thousand a day, five chapters every day—writing until heaven and earth went dark, until I wanted to live and die, and it felt unbelievably great.
At the end of 2023, or perhaps in 2024, I tested positive for COVID. Even while waiting to have blood drawn at the hospital, I was still typing on my phone. My head was spinning then, and my temperature was 39.2°C.
Looking back now, that persistence truly had not been easy.
Later, I gradually grew exhausted, though I still managed to keep the updates going. Then, over the past two months, my herniated disc flared up. During the Dragon Boat Festival, I lay flat for an entire week. And over these past ten days or so, I have been thinking about how to wrap things up, so my updates have not been consistent.
As for the updates—especially how lacking they have been during this period—I want to apologize to all you esteemed readers.
