Chapter Summaries

Kisame and the Mist Squad fought Karatachi Yagura, Mei Terumi, and Ao on the flooded battlefield. Kisame’s spores drained Yagura’s chakra and forced him out of his Tailed Beast Transformation as Obito advanced through the Kirigakure forces toward him.

• Kisame’s water wave clashed with Karatachi Yagura’s Water Wall, flooding the battlefield, while Biwa Jūzō and Lotus ambushed Yagura.
• Mei Terumi and Ao joined the fight, forcing Ryu to engage Ao while Biwa Jūzō and Lotus fought Mei Terumi, leaving Kisame to face Yagura.

Hyuga Kagami, appearing as the God Organization’s River Lord, charged into the battlefield alone and devastated the White Zetsu force sent to kill him. As Obito tightened his encirclement around Kakashi and Karatachi Yagura, the chapter ended with everyone stunned by River Lord’s slaughter of more than a thousand enemies.

• Kirigakure and Akatsuki recognized the approaching fighter as the God Organization’s River Lord and identified his airborne double as a Water-Oil Clone.

Konoha confirmed that Akatsuki was advancing on the village with an immense cloud of Explosive Tags and began evacuating civilians and preparing its defenses. Jiraiya recruited Shisui and Shinichi to impersonate the God Organization and delay Akatsuki’s attack.

• An Anbu reported that Yamanaka Inoichi had confirmed the patrol’s warning and that the Explosive Tags covered an enormous expanse of sky.
• Itachi urged the village to evacuate, and the Third Hokage assigned Itachi command of Konoha’s ninja forces, Tsunade the evacuation, and Utatane Koharu the task of notifying the other Kage.
• The Third Hokage tasked Jiraiya with protecting Naruto and Fū, then asked him to carry out Kakashi’s plan to delay Akatsuki.
• Itachi sent crows to Hyuga Kagami for instructions while Tsunade organized the evacuation and Jiraiya informed the visiting Kage of the imminent attack.

Shinichi refused to join Jiraiya’s plan to delay the Akatsuki, so Jiraiya assembled a five-person squad disguised as members of the God Organization. Shisui led the team as they set out to buy time for Konoha’s civilian evacuation.

• Shinichi refused Jiraiya’s mission, and Shisui offered to go with Sasuke instead.
• Jiraiya recruited Deidara, Kimimaro, and Haku, giving them disguises as Jizo, Wind Chime, and River Lord.

Nagato and Konan faced the five God Organization members while their forces searched the forest for signs of the organization’s leader. After fifteen minutes of tense waiting, two Tailed Beast Balls ambushed the disguised God Organization team, scattering its members into the forest.

• A White Zetsu clone briefed Nagato and Konan on the God Organization’s members as Konoha patrols spotted the confrontation and withdrew.
• Haku sensed hundreds of enemy chakra signatures searching the forest, and Shisui reassured Sasuke while the team waited on their Clay Birds.
• As time ran out, Kimimaro took Tsunade’s medicine, Shisui warned Sasuke not to reveal his identity, and Deidara prepared for combat.
• Two Tailed Beast Balls struck the Clay Birds, forcing Shisui, Sasuke, and their companions to jump as the birds exploded.

Nagato’s forces attacked Sasuke, Shisui, Haku, Kimimaro, and Deidara with Jinchuriki controlled as Paths of Pain while the Explosive Tag cloud advanced toward Konoha. Haku froze Rōshi and created a giant ice mirror to block the cloud, while Shisui realized Sasuke was in danger.

• Killer B, controlled as the Preta Path, attacked Sasuke, who recognized him as Kumogakure’s Eight-Tails Jinchuriki and charged at him.
• Utakata, controlled as the Human Path, clashed with Shisui; Shisui discovered Utakata’s Tailed Beast cloak could corrode his weapons and worried that Sasuke was in danger.
• Rōshi and Han went after Haku and Kimimaro, while Yugito Nii summoned several beasts to attack Deidara and concealed herself inside a chameleon.

Haku used Ice Release to block the Akatsuki’s explosive-tag cloud while Konan attacked the ice mirror, and Shisui kept fighting as he worried about his inexperienced squad. Sasuke burned Killer B with Amaterasu, but Killer B suddenly attacked with a Lightning Release Lariat and shattered Sasuke’s newly activated Susanoo.

• Haku formed a gigantic ice mirror that halted the explosive-tag cloud and trapped Rōshi, startling Konan and the White Zetsu clone with his strength.
• Konan directed waves of explosive-tag shuriken at the ice mirror as Haku answered with Ice Senbon, causing a chain of explosions in the sky.
• Shisui judged that Haku’s squad needed to stall Nagato until Hyuga Kagami returned, then continued fighting Utakata while searching for Sasuke.

Sasuke fought the Preta Path Killer B, but his attacks were absorbed and he was badly injured. Shisui arrived just in time to save him and identified their opponent as one of the Six Paths of Pain belonging to the Akatsuki leader.

• Sasuke was blasted through the trees by the Preta Path Killer B, who extinguished Sasuke’s Amaterasu by absorbing it.
• The Preta Path Killer B struck Sasuke with a Tailed Beast cloak-enhanced Lariat, worsening Sasuke’s injuries and vision.

Shisui used a bluff and Wood Release to help the badly injured Sasuke escape from Killer B, who had become the Preta Path. As Shisui assessed the other battles, Kimimaro arrived and told Sasuke that not being dead was good enough.

• Shisui recognized that Killer B’s ninjutsu absorption made him a dangerous opponent and realized Sasuke’s identity as a God Organization member had been exposed.
• Shisui claimed Sasuke was an intern named Uchiha Homura and invoked the organization’s leader to keep Nagato wary.

• Konan’s Explosive Tags overwhelmed Haku’s defenses, while Naraka Path escaped and used a Tailed Beast Ball to shatter the giant ice mirror.
• Kimimaro warned that Haku was nearly out of chakra, and Shisui urged the others to keep retreating and delay Akatsuki without forcing a fight.

• The Third Hokage learned that the tremors came from a clash between the God Organization and Akatsuki, and the Third Tsuchikage explained that Deidara’s C5 could destroy a city.
• Deidara’s C5 explosion annihilated the surrounding forest, but Shisui used Susanoo and the Yata Mirror to save Sasuke and Kimimaro.

• Shikaku told Itachi that tens of thousands of villagers remained in Konoha and that evacuation needed another hour, then urged him to destroy the Explosive Tags and create an opening for the Kage.
• Konan sent out three tornadoes of Explosive Tags, which collided with a combined Konoha Wind and Fire Release attack.
• The Third Hokage and the other Kage resolved to fight, while the Third Tsuchikage asked whether Konoha had contacted God Organization; the Third Hokage said it had not responded.
• In Kamui’s space, Hyuga Kagami’s Water Clone struggled against Sasori’s Hiruko Human Puppet, whose abilities weakened Kagami’s ninjutsu and pressured him in close combat.

Hyuga Kagami fought Sasori’s three Human Puppets in the Kamui space while searching for a way to escape the deadlock. He suspected Obito planned to kill Sasori to protect the space’s secrets, and sowed doubt between them, leaving Sasori questioning Obito’s intentions.

• Sasori sent the Ice Release Human Puppet and Shikotsumyaku Human Puppet to join the Third Kazekage Human Puppet in attacking Hyuga Kagami.
• Hyuga Kagami held his own against the puppets but recognized that Kakashi’s battle with Obito was key to escaping the Kamui space.
