Background / History
High Priest of Sea God Island
Bo Saixi grew up on Sea God Island and became its High Priest after undergoing the Top Level Eight Trial. This assessment surpassed those received by the current Seven Sacred Pillar Douluo, whose highest was the Black Level Six Trial 139 304.
Several decades before Mo Hui’s arrival, Tang Chen and Qian Daoliu challenged her on the island. She defeated both by drawing upon the ocean’s power, a battle credited with establishing Sea God Island’s standing 216.
Guiding Mo Hui’s Divine Trials
Bo Saixi receives Mo Hui and Pidgeot as esteemed guests. Pidgeot’s intelligence and unusual connection to divine inheritance surprise her enough that she reports the encounter directly to the Sea God through his temple statue 139.
After Mo Hui receives the Sea God’s inheritance mark, she explains his trials and urges him to begin promptly. Her obedience conceals a personal conflict: completion of the Ninth Trial requires her sacrifice, and she initially feels relief when his progress slows 140 142 147.
Her responsibilities include guiding him to trial sites, delivering God-Bestowed Soul Rings, and arranging suitable lodging and cultivation space. She also stops Xiao Bai from attacking him during his underwater research and warns him to remain on the island while absorbing a ring that requires prolonged concentration 151 153 162 169 171.
Mo Hui’s performance gradually wins her wholehearted respect. His willingness to charge into a dangerous Water Spout convinces her that he is worthy both of the Sea God’s position and of her eventual sacrifice 168. Their month-long exchange on water-element cultivation develops from instruction into mutual study, benefiting both of them 174.
Testing Mo Hui’s Strength
Before Mo Hui confronts the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King, Bo Saixi agrees to fight him in the Ring Sea to test whether his confidence is justified. Her improved strength and home-ground advantage make her a formidable benchmark 264.
She deploys the Sea God’s Domain and Sea Burial, but Mo Hui breaks through her defenses with his combined techniques. Bo Saixi admits defeat while still identifying a fatal weakness in his move 265.
Reunion with Tang Chen and Sacrifice
Once Mo Hui completes the Eighth Trial, Bo Saixi asks for time to see Tang Chen before the final inheritance ceremony. Mo Hui reveals that Tang Chen is in the City of Slaughter and warns her that she must bear the consequences of going there 277.
She returns with Tang Chen after receiving Poseidon’s order to complete the inheritance. Tang Chen offers Mo Hui the Asura God Sword and an alternative divine inheritance to spare her life, but Bo Saixi refuses to abandon the mission of the High Priests. Seeing Tang Chen again has resolved her remaining emotional attachment, and she considers her duty fulfilled without regret 291 292.
Mo Hui explains that Poseidon can resurrect her if her soul remains intact. Bo Saixi then performs the sacrificial ceremony in Sea God Temple, releasing her energy into Mo Hui and opening the Sea God’s Ninth Trial 293 294.
Resurrection and Life at Storm Pavilion
Poseidon offers Bo Saixi two choices: accompany him and receive god-level strength, or return to Douluo Continent and cultivate from the beginning. She chooses the continent 296.
Her newly created body arrives as a newborn and rapidly grows to resemble a ten-year-old girl. Mo Hui intercepts her descent and clothes her in an aqua-blue dress formed from water-element energy. He advises her to cultivate independently rather than accept an immediate restoration to Level 99, which could close off her path to godhood 297.
Bo Saixi declines to reclaim the High Priest’s office from Sea Dragon Douluo. Although she initially hopes to spend time with Tang Chen, she discovers that her old romantic fixation has weakened after reunion, death, and resurrection. She later accompanies him to Mo Hui and witnesses Tang Chen’s body disperse after he entrusts the Asura Demon Sword to Mo Hui 298 299 300.
She travels to Storm Pavilion with Mo Hui, where Hei Youli creates a Life Soul Lamp for her and takes responsibility for her care. Bo Saixi resumes cultivation, reaches Soul Elder within five months, and eventually demonstrates Level 100 strength against Dugu Bo and Yang Wudi 304 305 312 345.
Appearance
Bo Saixi’s original appearance is that of a mature, regal woman; after resurrection, she resembles a young girl while retaining a recognizable face and soul aura 293 297 299.
- Eyes: Clear, deep blue 142.
- Original clothing: A red gown, often accompanied by the High Priest’s scepter 162 294.
- Bearing: Noble, elegant, gentle, and warm; her movements reflect decades of authority 162 294.
- Resurrected appearance: Approximately ten years old, wearing a long aqua-blue dress 297 312.
Personality
Bo Saixi’s defining loyalty is to the Sea God. She interprets his decisions as purposeful, obeys his decrees, and ultimately regards the succession ceremony as the culmination of her life’s work. Nevertheless, her early relief at delays in Mo Hui’s trials shows that devotion does not erase her desire to live 169 292 294.
She is courteous and protective toward Mo Hui, arranging his reception, apologizing for Xiao Bai’s behavior, and questioning dangerous plans. She also remains willing to learn: when Mo Hui’s understanding surpasses hers, she acknowledges it openly and values what she has gained from their discussions 139 151 174 264.
Resurrection gives her a more openly curious side. She looks forward to experiencing mainland life, accepts that Sea God Island needs new leadership, and starts cultivation again rather than demanding the restoration of her old position or power 297 298 304.
Abilities & Skills
Water-Element Mastery
Bo Saixi possesses extensive practical and theoretical knowledge of water-element cultivation 174.
- Calms the violent waters of the Raging Waves Abyss and raises the trial’s gray pillar from the sea 162.
- Creates a massive water curtain that effortlessly blocks the combined attacks of the Seven Sacred Pillar Douluo and Xiao Bai 216.
- Teaches Mo Hui principles useful for further condensing his Water Cannon, though she cannot directly complete the refinement for him 174.
- Refers him to Sea God Island’s library when their discussions exhaust what she can teach 175.
Sea God’s Domain and Sea Burial
Her Sea God’s Domain extends over the surrounding sea, accompanied by a phantom of the Sea God 265.
- Uses the domain and Sea Burial during her battle with Mo Hui 265.
- Can draw upon the ocean to strengthen her combat performance, as demonstrated against Tang Chen and Qian Daoliu 216.
- Loses roughly 30% of her strength away from the sea; leaving Sea God Island also removes her access to its Divine Power, making the total loss greater 288.
Divine Communication and Rituals
As High Priest, Bo Saixi communicates with Poseidon and can wield Divine Power to a limited extent 139 216.
- Reports information through the Sea God statue and receives divine decrees in her mind 139 291.
- Uses a Sea God-supplied golden bead to awaken Mo Hui’s second Martial Soul 145.
- Initiates the Ninth Trial through her scepter, a golden hexagram formation, and her own sacrifice 294.
- Her original Sea God imprints enhance her strength but also prevent her from independently breaking through to godhood; resurrection removes that restriction 296.
Spiritual Power and Retained Foundation
Although her resurrected body begins without Soul Power, Bo Saixi retains exceptional soul strength and prior cultivation experience 302 305.
- Examines Tang Chen spiritually and identifies the two conflicting Divine Powers destroying his body 292.
- Hei Youli judges her soul strength comparable to that of a Titled Douluo despite her childlike body 305.
- Her new body is assessed as capable of cultivating at least twice as quickly as her former one 297.
God-Level Manifestation
At Level 100, Bo Saixi manifests an enormous blue figure identical to herself and stands on its head during battle 345.
- Its appearance produces a shockwave that throws Dugu Bo’s dragon form hundreds of meters away 345.
- Attacks through a descending energy palm 345.
- Reveals her god-level aura against Dugu Bo and Yang Wudi’s Netherworld Demonic Dragon fusion 345.
- Reaching Level 100 is distinct from inheriting the Sea God position: Mo Hui offers that position only after her breakthrough 345.
