Retsu Unohana, a female Shinigami whose true age exceeded a thousand years, had a gentle and peaceful appearance. Her black hair was parted down the middle and braided into two plaits that hung below her collarbones.

Within the Thirteen Court Guard Squads of the Seireitei, she was the captain of the Fourth Division and a renowned Medical Saint.

Yet beneath the eternally dignified, elegant, composed exterior of this mature woman lay an exceptionally warlike murderer.

In the original ending, she ultimately died at the hands of Kenpachi Zaraki, using her death to awaken Zaraki's potential and finally allow him to awaken his Zanpakuto.

Looking over the rest of her life, perhaps she had only two goals: atonement, and satisfying herself.

This woman was exactly his type. Who wouldn't love a gentle, kind older sister?

Shinichi asked in surprise, "What happened to Soul Society?"

Retsu Unohana proceeded to tell him everything that had happened in Soul Society.

Shinichi chuckled. "With Captain-Commander Yamamoto stationed in the Seireitei, I believe no matter what kind of unrest arises, it won't amount to much. Though I've never fought him, I hold Captain-Commander Yamamoto's strength in very high regard."

Retsu Unohana pursed her lips. "Captain-Commander... may have already fallen."

Shinichi's expression jolted, and he said in shock, "Are you serious?"

After considering it, Retsu Unohana still revealed how Byakuya Kuchiki had turned into a monster and attacked the Captain-Commander. There was no way the Captain-Commander's fate could be concealed for long. It would soon spread throughout Soul Society, and the emperor of the Living World would certainly learn of it then.

Shinichi pondered seriously for a moment before rising to his feet. "Captain Unohana, rest assured. The safety of Soul Society concerns the stability of the world. We certainly will not stand by and do nothing."
