Su Yueling had gotten something wrong again!
She thought Sun Zhiming was just like all her other simps—that if she got a little upset, he'd come running to soothe her, even groveling to win her back.
But Sun Zhiming came from a family of immense wealth and status. How could he possibly be a simp?
"What exactly did I misunderstand?" Sun Zhiming shot back with a cold laugh.
Su Yueling frowned. "I just wanted to get to know you a little, classmate Sun."
"I don't want to get to know an idiot!" Sun Zhiming sneered without restraint. He was fed up with Su Yueling's self-righteous stupidity.
"I..." Su Yueling put on a wounded expression. "Classmate Sun, have I done something to offend you?"
"Or is it because..." She trailed off, letting the implication hang.
To be fair, while Su Yueling wasn't smart, she did have some skill at playing the victim and deflecting blame.
She at least knew how to change the subject, steering Sun Zhiming's mockery toward her past relationship with An Wuyang, hinting that Sun Zhiming was petty and disliked her because of him.
Sun Zhiming saw right through her tea-flavored words and responded bluntly, "Since you've got no shame, I'll say it straight!"
"Do you think everyone's an idiot who can't see what you're thinking?" he taunted directly.
"By your logic, when you say you want to 'get to know me,' does anyone not know what that really means?" Sun Zhiming asked deliberately, baiting his lackeys to chime in.
Yang Kai took the cue. "Su Yueling, you're just trying to latch onto Brother Sun again, aren't you?"
The nobody Ma Long joined in with a tease. "Su Yueling, we all see it—you're trying to hook Brother Sun!"
Ma Long knew he had no chance with Su Yueling himself, so there was a hint of love-turned-to-hate in his tone.
Once Ma Long, that invisible figure, spoke up, a few other nobodies chimed in together, leaving Su Yueling with no room to argue.
"Do you know why I called you an idiot?" Sun Zhiming asked with malicious amusement.
Su Yueling frowned at him. She didn't think she'd offended him—could it really be because she used to be An Wuyang's girlfriend, and Sun Zhiming hated him so much that he hated her by association?
"Are you thinking it's because you were An Wuyang's girlfriend before, and since I don't get along with him, I hate you too?" Sun Zhiming laid it out plainly.
Even though he often called An Wuyang "good brother" in the class group chat, everyone knew there was bad blood between them.
Su Yueling couldn't help blurting out, "Isn't that it?"
"You really are that stupid!" Sun Zhiming sneered.
"Let me guess—you broke up with him because you heard his family was about to go bankrupt, right?" Sun Zhiming asked with a mocking tone.
Su Yueling fell silent. How could she admit to that?
Wouldn't that just be admitting she was a gold digger?
"So tell me, was I wrong to call you an idiot?" Sun Zhiming taunted again. "Do you even know the real situation with An Wuyang's family's Wugengtian Pharmaceutical Group?"
"You don't!" Sun Zhiming answered his own question.
"You don't even know what other businesses An Wuyang's family has besides the Wugengtian Pharmaceutical Group," he teased.
"I casually said a few things in the class group chat about his family going bankrupt, and you just believed it?" Sun Zhiming's words had a cruel edge, like twisting the knife.
"Did you see An Wuyang ever come out and respond?" he pressed.
Su Yueling froze. It was true—An Wuyang had never replied.
"Don't overthink it. An Wuyang's family situation really is bad, and I wasn't lying. But so what if his family goes bankrupt?" Sun Zhiming scoffed.
"Even if his family is in trouble, they're sitting in luxury cars worth millions, worrying about problems in the tens of millions or even hundreds of millions. Even if they can't solve those problems, a dying camel is still bigger than a horse. You could work your whole life and never have as much wealth as they'll have left after bankruptcy," Sun Zhiming said without mercy.
"My family and his are about the same. What makes you think that after dating An Wuyang and breaking up, you could still 'get to know' me?" Sun Zhiming asked rhetorically.
"If I actually did get to know you, do you know what people in our circle would say?" He flashed a look of contempt.
"Word would spread that I, Sun Zhiming, picked up An Wuyang's sloppy seconds!" he said through gritted teeth.
Su Yueling's face turned ugly. "Sloppy seconds" was hardly a flattering term!
So she shot back, "Isn't your thinking a bit too feudal? It's 2021 now, and you still have such outdated, old-fashioned ideas!"
"Hahahaha!" Sun Zhiming burst out laughing. "Have you been watching too many Domineering CEO dramas?"
"What tier are you even on?" he mocked.
"Do you really think An Wuyang actually liked you?" he twisted the knife.
"Wake up, will you?" he kept hammering.
"If An Wuyang had any real feelings for you, when you posted that unilateral breakup on your Moments, he would've tried to win you back instead of just letting it happen," Sun Zhiming cut to the core.
As he said, if An Wuyang had truly loved Su Yueling, even knowing she was a gold digger and even after she unilaterally announced the breakup on Moments, he would've found a way to reconcile.
After all, true love is usually blind.
But An Wuyang made no move. He let Su Yueling's unilateral breakup on Moments stand, which meant his feelings for her were never real to begin with.
Sun Zhiming's razor-sharp words struck like a blade, leaving Su Yueling frozen in place. She had no comeback.
"Honestly, if you hadn't broken up with An Wuyang and wanted to 'get to know' me, maybe because of him, I'd have set aside my principles and enjoyed a morally bankrupt life," Sun Zhiming said with a hint of regret.
His subtext was clear: if he could cuckold An Wuyang, he'd definitely throw his decency out the window.
"It's a pity you've already broken up with An Wuyang. If I got together with you now, I can't even imagine how he'd mock me!" Sun Zhiming sighed.
"I can't say for sure about anything else, but 'Later' is definitely going to be my personal BGM." Sun Zhiming joked.
Yang Kai asked curiously, "Brother Sun, what's the deal with this 'Later' thing?"
"First in line is the big brother, later is the little brother—get it?" Sun Zhiming snorted.
"Ahem!" Yang Kai held back his laughter, which eventually turned into a cough.
The others weren't Sun Zhiming's lackeys. Even though he was treating them to this meal, some couldn't help but burst out laughing.
Because Sun Zhiming's explanation was just too ridiculous!
At first, some people secretly resented Sun Zhiming for mocking Su Yueling, but after hearing his reasoning, they actually started to agree with him.
It wasn't that girls shouldn't date, but a girl's ex-boyfriend shouldn't be someone you know—especially someone you know and have a conflict with!
After all, who wants to be the little brother who came later?
An Wuyang: You there? Wanna hear "Later"?
