Large swaths of trees shattered as a pale-blue sphere crashed into the forest at the edge of the Soul Society.

Soil flew everywhere as the pale-blue sphere slammed into the ground and finally broke apart, leaving behind a pit five meters in diameter.
Su Xiao rose from the pit and lit a cigarette. He looked toward the pillar of light shooting into the sky in the distance. It represented the destruction of the spirit particle pulse array.
Within the Seireitei.
Dense spirit particles drifted through the air. Not every building had been razed to the ground. The buildings at the edge of the pulse zone had merely collapsed instead of dissolving into spirit particles.
With a loud clatter, a large mass of building debris flew up. A blond-haired man stood from within the rubble and looked around. Ruined walls and broken streets filled his vision, with several Shinigami lying across them and crying out in agony.
The man was named Izuru Kira, the lieutenant of the Third Division. The scene around him left him rooted to the spot. He could hardly believe this was the Third Division's headquarters.
"Lieutenant, save me."
A female Shinigami whose body had been shredded from the waist down by the spirit particle pulse raised her arm. Izuru Kira hurried forward, but there was nothing he could do except take her hand in consolation.
"What happened here?!"
Izuru Kira's body trembled slightly. The moment the spirit particle pulse struck, he had even felt that the Soul Society was about to be destroyed.
"Hurry! Treat all the wounded together."
A shout rang out from the distance. A large group of Shinigami rushed over from outside the pulse zone. They were all members of the Fourth Division.
"Lieutenant Kira, leave this to us."
