The Doom sailed toward Horror Island. From a distance, the sky above Horror Island appeared pitch-black, and everything on the island was black.
Boom!
The sound of an impact came from beneath the ship, followed by a wave of sound that spread out. Some sort of sea creature was screaming.
A creature had attacked the Doom with a weapon. The Doom was no lifeless object that would take a hit without retaliating. The instant it was attacked, withered roots sprouted from its hull and wrapped around the creature.
A shriveled corpse floated to the surface. Baja swooped down, hauled the corpse from the sea, and tossed it onto the deck.
With a bang, the shriveled corpse hit the deck. The creature had a human torso and a fish tail, and it still clutched a sharp fork. It was a member of the Sea Race.
The surface of the sea began to tremble, sending countless droplets flying. A Sea Race member with a human torso, a fish tail, and long hair like seaweed burst from the water. Suspended in midair, it swung its arm and hurled a bone spear.
Bang!
The bone spear struck the deck. It was clearly a warning—a warning for Su Xiao to stay away from Horror Island.
Sea Race guards were stationed near Horror Island, forbidding humans from setting foot on the island. Thinking of this, Su Xiao raised his left arm. Roots spread from the deck beneath his feet and wrapped around his left arm.
Gurgle, gurgle~
The Doom began sinking into the sea. Its sails folded away. Su Xiao took a deep breath. Seawater first rose past his knees, then his chest, and finally submerged him completely.
In the pale-blue seawater, dark shadows darted around the Doom. There were at least several thousand of them.
