Su Xiao had just reached the crack in the wall when, with a bang, Azaz crashed through the door.
"Thanks for the reminder. But, Byakuya, you should look above us."
Azaz pointed at the ceiling. It was in complete disrepair, just as it had been earlier, so that alone was not particularly unusual. What Azaz meant was farther above.
"There isn't much time. Be specific."
"An eye appeared in the sky. It was about this big..." Azaz raised his hand to demonstrate, then gave up on the somewhat foolish gesture and said, "That eye was at least half the size of Ango City."
"Be more specific. What did that eye feel like?"
"That eye... was furious. Furious with resentment."
Hearing that, Su Xiao thought of the Resentful Orphan.
"That's normal."
"Normal?!"
Azaz took a moment to recover. A horrifying sight like that had appeared overhead, and it was actually considered "normal." He felt as though he had wasted his entire life. A layer of crystal clung to Su Xiao's body. He reached his hand into the crack in the wall. The instant his fingertips touched the churning darkness, he felt the chaotic consciousness within, even through the crystal layer.
A pulling force came from his hand. Every muscle in Su Xiao's body tensed, but he did not resist the force.
One pale little hand after another reached out from the churning darkness, dragging Su Xiao into it.
