These clerics usually looked amiable, but they were a different matter in battle. To heal the sins of the "City of Smoke," they sometimes needed to employ certain forceful methods, such as physically enlightening and persuading the criminals.
This enlightenment process required powerful combat strength to support it. Besides, it was not only skilled work but also physical labor.
Nearly three hundred clerics surrounded Eunice. They stood atop the ruins as silver chains appeared one after another behind them. These were products formed by the fusion of primal soul energy with parts of souls. The silver chains were the Healing Cult's symbol, much like the mystics' holy seals.
Eunice swept her gaze over the surrounding clerics. When she had still been part of the Healing Cult, she had considered using these clerics to help her fight, but she had failed. Now that she had completely broken with the Healing Cult, these clerics had become enemies.
With a bang, an explosion of air spread out. A crossbow bolt covered in wind holes, its tail connected to iron-sand-like soul energy, was caught in spider silk and stopped several meters from Eunice. The bolt had been aimed straight at her head, and the soul-energy line attached to its end was extraordinarily tough. It was a weapon commonly used by the desperadoes of the City of Smoke.
These desperadoes had once captured anything and everything: lone powerhouses, mystics, exotic beasts from District 32, and even strange ghostly things. As long as something was valuable, it could become their target for capture and sale.
These desperadoes came from Districts 1 through 3. Su Xiao had not
