The central region of the Western Continent, the ancient city of Kilga.
This ancient city had stood here for over a thousand years. Since it had not been repaired for so long, its walls were in terrible disrepair, covered in honeycomb-like round holes. The crescent-shaped thin stones around the holes were as sharp and sturdy as blades, proving the defensive strength of the walls.
A thousand years ago, this had absolutely been a fortress capable of making enemies feel powerless, even desperate. But in the present era, shells powered by crystal mixed with blue gunpowder would not be fired at the walls at all. They would fly into the ancient city along a parabolic trajectory before exploding.
The buildings within the ancient city were arranged in an orderly yet varied fashion, still giving people a sense of the former might of Teyatu civilization. The imperial palace in the rear was especially imposing. Its towering architecture made one marvel at how people had built such a palace a thousand years ago, and how much sweat, blood, and tears they had shed. Seen from afar, the palace seemed to consist of more than just rock and metal. It also contained the dead and their blood.
The ancient city was very quiet. In reality, many primitive people were hiding inside its various buildings. They could also be called Parasite Warriors. Nematodes had taken up residence inside their bodies, making them savage, impulsive, and murderous. The moment they caught the scent of blood, they lost most of their rationality.
Compared with these side effects, being infected by nematodes gave them tenacious vitality and sinister supernatural abilities. Even more troublesome was that as long as the parasitic site inside their bodies—the place where the nematodes lived—was not destroyed, smashing their skulls or destroying their hearts
