After overdrawing her perception for the first time, Sha had felt worse than death. She had been only seventeen then, and had cried herself into a tearful mess.
Su Xiao was experiencing the same thing now. His brain felt as though millions of needles were stabbing it. Whenever his perception touched anything around him, an excruciating pain shot back through him, piercing straight into his heart. Worse, he temporarily could not retract his perception.

Su Xiao leaned against the wall, lit a cigarette, and sat there motionless with it between his lips.

Sha had just risen to her feet when Su Xiao raised a hand to stop her.
"Don't come near me. My perception is stabbing me."
"Your perception is painful... That means the side effect of overdrawing your perception has appeared. Your tolerance is pretty good."
Sha was somewhat disappointed. She had been looking forward to seeing Su Xiao hurt so badly that he questioned his entire existence.
"Tolerating pain is part of the self-cultivation of becoming stronger."
Su Xiao felt the stabbing pain in his brain gradually receding.
"Disappointed?"
