It wasn't until we reached the location of Zhao Qian's feng shui Compass that we became fully alert. That place was where the ghost soldiers had crossed.
"Well, isn't this your feng shui Compass, Zhao Qian? How did it end up here?" Elder Hai said with a chuckle, pointing at the Compass in the distance.
Zhao Qian flushed bright red and ran over to pick it up. "The ghost soldiers crossed through here. I barely made it out."
"Heh, no need to worry. Those ghost soldiers weren't actually targeting you. They were merely ordered to guard this place. There may be many of them, but their numbers are still quite limited. They aren't a problem for me." Elder Hai grinned, then pulled a large stack of paper figures from his hiking pack. I couldn't even tell how many there were.
Elder Hai was tremendously experienced, and he had a very clever way of dealing with ghost soldiers. He wrote several characters on each paper figure. Once he had finished, he swaggered straight toward the ghost soldiers.
"Just watch. I've come all the way here from Dead Town, and I don't even know how many squads of ghost soldiers like these I've encountered. I've gotten past them all the same way." Although he had concealed the yang energy on his body, a group of ghost soldiers still intended to question him about why a little ghost from the underworld was here.
Elder Hai simply scattered the pile of paper figures into the river beside the cliff, then began chanting an incantation.
