The tremendous force tore straight through, destroying a vast swath of bamboo forest ahead. Nothing remained of their leader but a wisp of blue smoke to show that he had once been there, once existed...
"The book cards are right there. If you have the ability, go take them. If you don't, I'll force you to try. How does that sound?" Standing where their leader had been destroyed, I stared grimly at the men hovering in midair, still looking ready to snatch the cards.
Two of the four immediately stopped when they heard me. "Spare us, senior! We were following orders! Our senior brother put us up to everything. It had nothing to do with us!"
Of the other two, one steeled himself and veered off at a ninety-degree angle, apparently hoping his flying speed would save his life. But before he could get far, there was a thunderous crash. Just as he turned to see whether I was pursuing him, he collided head-on with Qiuniu, who had concealed his presence and come charging from the opposite direction!
Boom!
The collision was like a calf hitting a train. A cloud of blood erupted instantly, and he disintegrated into dust. Having killed one, Qiuniu immediately turned on the man who was still planning to seize the book cards!
I sneered. All four of them would die. They killed without asking why, so I had no reason to spare them!
Boom!
Another cloud of red mist burst forth as one more of them met a violent death. There was nothing particularly gruesome about the process; it was merely like a red flower blooming and leaving the ground wet! Though Hua Ke had closed her eyes while hiding atop the Swift Ghost, I noticed her sneaking worried glances at me.
Seeing the child
