"You have to go too!" Zhu Daohe glared at me. I laughed. "You mind your business, and I'll mind mine. Don't assume I have to go to the Great Wilderness. If I run somewhere else, are you going to chase me there too? Besides, didn't you hear what these men said? Soldiers from the other frontier cities will be here soon. If I go with you, wouldn't I just be walking into a trap?"
"No, no. We heard that the nearest frontier city would need at least two months to get here. Otherwise, we wouldn't have fled. If we go back, we'll still get whipped." The squad leader gave me a bitter smile.
"Shut up! How dare you reveal military intelligence!" Zhu Daohe shouted angrily. The squad leader immediately dropped to his knees and begged for mercy.
I gave an awkward laugh. "He was kindly warning me. Why blame him? Besides, this place is deserted. Maybe those bandits will have finished resting and fled far away in another couple of days. What difference do one or two months make?"
"Right! Exactly! Maybe they've already fled!" The squad leader was delighted that someone had spoken up for him.
