Here in the Ancient God Realm, it wasn't only gold that shone brilliantly. Quite a few natural crystal treasures also radiated dazzling colors. For some unknown reason, the Toad Great Immortal was extremely fond of such glittering things. Perhaps the direct glare activated the interest of its retinas, or perhaps it simply had a special preference for them.

But now, almost everything had been stolen. Apart from some scattered treasures that hadn't been cleaned out of the lair, it had practically been emptied out completely. There should have been quite a lot of treasure, too. After all, the pit had been dug to at least half the size of a soccer field before the Toad Great Immortal threw back its head and roared again.

Xue Qingcheng and I stood nearby. The toad's voice was deafening, but there was indeed nothing we could do to help it now. We could only watch from a distance. I took Xue Qingcheng after it. Before long, we discovered it rummaging around a puddle at the foot of the mountain. With every swipe, it splashed water everywhere, and quite a few glittering metals like gold and silver were genuinely splashed out. It seemed this was its second lair.

Sure enough, this place had been robbed as well. But the toad apparently had more than one lair. It was the first time I'd discovered that the saying about a crafty rabbit having three burrows could also apply to a toad. After sniffing the surrounding air again, it raced madly toward the next treasure hoard. Yet, to its utter dismay, every one of its treasure nests had been robbed!
