Without the slightest hesitation, I drew Heaven-Opening's Tear and slashed at the locking chains flying toward me. Since each of those locks was moving to connect with the one opposite it, I naturally knew they were connection points for some kind of Grand Array. Preventing them from linking up was therefore the most important thing.
However, the countless locks seemed to attract one another. Even after I knocked them away, they came alive again, pulling toward one another like magnets. In the end, they snapped directly together. The interlocking angles also seemed highly regular—one glance was enough to tell that this was a secondary arrangement of the Grand Array. Once they were all locked together, something was bound to happen.
To make matters worse, not only could my sword not sever them, I could not even separate them. A wave of foreboding immediately rose in my heart!
Sure enough, after all the chain locks had joined together, the scarlet chains began to heat up!
My expression changed drastically. Only when I sensed the temperature of the lightning slurry did I realize how terrifying this thing was. Clearly, these hundred-plus enormous chains were serving to heat the space. Of course, the lightning slurry also restricted the heat. Otherwise, the temperature here would have reached its peak at once, turning this circular Grand Array into a molten hell!
As the temperature continued to rise sharply, I inevitably grew anxious as well. This secondary Grand Array had originally been meant to deal with experts at the Proving-the-Dao realm. It was only because the lightning slurry occupied the main position that the temperature here had been unable to rise. But given enough time, the heat could still burn me to ashes. So if I did not break this Grand Array soon, let alone wait
