Perhaps the Immortal Throneholders had all gone and never returned. As I stood there waiting, not a single Immortal Throneholder came back up. The roar beasts above, however, continued howling one after another, making my ears ache. I did not stay by the rift any longer, instead walking along the upward passage and out of the artificial canyon carved through the mountain.
There were not many hunters above, but there were still thirty or forty of them. I guessed the Hunter Bureau was afraid it did not have enough people to even fill the gaps between my teeth if it wanted to capture me. Fiery Dragon's Legendary Hunter certification had probably gone through by now. He was a Legendary Hunter from the Eleventh City. Two other Legendary Hunters had come with him: Jing Ning, who had already advanced to quasi-Legendary Hunter, and another new Legendary Hunter from the Twelfth City whose name I did not know. He had probably only recently joined.
The rest were Legendary Hunters from the Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth Cities. Even the lowest-ranked among them were Heroic-level hunters. It was obvious that the various cities had sent out their elite forces to capture me, so Fiery Dragon and Jing Ning probably did not have much say here either.
When they saw me about to reach the surface, the entire group of hunters grew restless. They whispered among themselves, and even the Gale Beasts beneath them became somewhat agitated. Although I had not revealed my true form after the roar beasts howled for some time, and had even killed two alien beasts as well as several powerful Descenders, everyone's suspicion of me had not been completely dispelled.
