The three siblings had treated me well all along the way, and I had deceived them, too. If they ran into danger, I had no choice but to save them, so I pulled hard on the Gale Beast and raced toward Lanyan. Before long, a towering shadow appeared amid the region where Lanyan and volcanic ash tangled together. Thinking it was some gigantic beast, I hurriedly reined in the Gale Beast!
But when I took a closer look, I froze again. The towering shadow was not some giant beast, but seemed more like an artificial structure. Astonished, I hurried toward it. As I drew closer, I discovered that it was a stone carving of a divine beast that must once have been lifelike. Yet the passage of time and the changing ages had ravaged this work of supernatural craftsmanship beyond recognition. Beside the divine beast lay a pile of collapsed statue fragments and enormous stone chunks. Clearly, the two statues had once stood guard at the entrance to some great city!
The two stone totems had now been almost completely destroyed by time, but even so, they remained utterly breathtaking!
Was this an ancient city?!
I was already shaken to the core. Lanyan lay farther ahead, beyond the statues, which should mean this was the city's interior. I continued toward the city. Beneath the haze, the entire great city looked exceptionally bleak and dilapidated. With not a ray of sunlight able to penetrate the sky, this was a dead city where the sun never shone!
Lanyan had appeared inside the city. Other than the three siblings, who else could have lit it here? I hurried over. Along the way, I indeed saw many urban ruins, but the structure of the great city had not collapsed too much despite the passage
