Half a day passed in a back-and-forth war of words before we finally reached a stretch of hillocks where not a soul could be seen. There were no strange rocks here, but it was an excellent place to climb high and look far.
A secluded cave dwelling had been carved out for the old man on the mountain. After he kicked aside a huge boulder, the cave dwelling within was revealed. A few shafts of light streamed down into it, showing that it was well ventilated. The interior was quite spacious—there was enough room for what looked like a basketball game. It was a naturally hollowed-out dwelling. The stone bricks at the entrance were smooth, and although the decorative patterns had been worn away, it was clear they were antiques. It was probably an immortal's cave dwelling left behind by Falling Wood Valley.
There were stone platforms and tea tables inside, as well as a master bedroom and a guest room. The furnishings could not be called exquisite, but everything one might need was there. In one corner lay a pile of animal hides, along with precious vicious-beast horns, strange stones, boxes, and other materials. It seemed the old man had hidden quite a few good things here during this time.
Pill furnaces, stone platforms, and other items were arranged on either side as well. No wonder he was a famous Rogue Cultivator. He said he had wandered around here for several years, but I figured it had been many more than that. Otherwise, this place would not have reached this state. He clearly intended to make this his permanent base.
But the more thoroughly prepared he was, the more it showed that the old man was no simple character. He had dragged Xian Li and me here, apparently planning
