I struck the chime with my hand, and it immediately released a strange, low-frequency sound. Although I knew nothing about musical theory, I had mastered quite a few techniques involving low-frequency vibrations. Because of my sensitivity to sound resonance, after carefully studying the Ghost-Faced Woman's bells, I had managed to create this chime as well.
The spirit patterns covering the bells were all designed to amplify low-frequency sounds. Copying them wasn't difficult. In fact, after striking it now, my version had even surpassed the original. Several nearby insects were instantly blasted backward, their bodies exploding into pieces!
The insects shattered from their wings all the way to their roots, then on to the sound-producing points on their bodies. Thus, the enormous low-frequency sound and their unique wingbeat frequency reacted against each other. Once the two sounds clashed, they formed an inverted shockwave. When the insects approached within a certain range and the low-frequency influence reached a sufficient level, resonance would tear them apart. That was why they feared this low-frequency sound.
Now that we had the chime protecting us, and the Ghost-Faced Man and Woman were rejected by all the immortals, the insects had surrounded all of us immortals. There was no need to guess who would suffer the backlash. It would be difficult for the Ghost-Faced pair to escape now.

The chime continued ringing. I not only used it to scatter the swarm but also tried using it to drive them. Thus, I matched the sound's volume and transmission speed to the way the Ghost-Faced Woman had driven them earlier. Sure enough, the swarm surrounded the Ghost-Faced pair just as I had expected.
