Her sharp gaze was nothing like Night Shadow's before. After pretending to hesitate, I murmured, "Afraid? Go on, say it."
Night Winter rolled her eyes. "When did I ever say I was going to? You're really good at making excuses for yourself."
"Hehe, if I didn't make excuses, how would anyone come along and make up for them?" I said cheerfully.
Night Winter said nothing. But after seeing me pass by quite a few challenge prompts without taking them on, she finally couldn't hold back. "You said you'd help me earn points, yet you won't challenge any of the other Star Lords. Tianyi and the others are all busy making things. Even if they gave you all their points, wouldn't that still not be enough?"
"This isn't urgent. I need to meet some friends, and you haven't told me your goal either, so I don't really have one." I shifted the blame onto her.
Night Winter looked at me suspiciously. "Do you really mean that?"
"Of course." Isn't this already a crack in her resolve?
Either we both slacked off, or she came up with a plan. For someone as goal-oriented as Night Winter, how could she possibly tolerate taking the path of doing nothing?
"If I tell you why Great Luotian asked me to participate in this grand competition, will you help me complete it? On the condition that we can't bring anyone else in, because this plan may benefit only one or two people!" Night Winter said solemnly.
"I knew it. You originally planned to complete it with Night Shadow, didn't you?" Now this fits guidance on the level of Great Luotian.
"Yes. To complete this plan, I really did intend to do it with her. But since she has already perished, I can actually complete it alone."
