Background / History
Early Training and Meeting Xiao Yan
Xiao Yi Xian’s connection to the Poison Sect extends back to childhood. While her unnamed master was alive, Elder Liu taught her to identify poisonous herbs and refine poisons. When other disciples ostracized her, he comforted her and told her that poison users must protect their true hearts 169.
She meets Xiao Yan in Wind Wolf Valley when a Third-tier Bloodthirsty Wind Wolf threatens him. Her flute melody calms the beast, allowing her to rescue him without killing it. She treats his injury, exchanges Ice Heart Grass for Qi Gathering Powder, and gives him a map marking dangerous beasts and hidden traps 19.
The following day, she brings Xiao Yan to a hidden cave behind Mist Hidden Cliff, having spent three days locating its entrance. Among its treasures, she claims the Poison Scripture, delighted by its antidote formulas and potential to help poisoned adventurers and magical beasts 20. They leave with rare herbs and pieces of Purple Crystal Source 21.
Poison-Body Eruption and Separation
During several days of refuge in a secluded valley, her Calamity Poison Body erupts. Fearing that Xiao Yan will be poisoned, she pushes him away and warns him not to approach. He instead uses the Myriad Beast Spirit Fire to contain the poison temporarily. They confess their feelings and agree to face her condition together 34.
She later leaves a letter explaining that another eruption could harm him and innocent people. With no known return date, she considers searching the Extreme North for an ice lotus or deep valleys for herbs that neutralize poison, asking him not to follow her 35.
Xiao Yan later recalls their shared work in Qingshan Town’s medicine hut, their search for a cure at the Mo Clan, and her quiet departure in the Chu Yun Empire. There, she had left a Nether Lotus as a token to bring when he found a cure 165.
Poison Sect Master and Renewed Alliance
Xiao Yi Xian reappears as the Poison Sect Master during its attack on the Yan Alliance alongside the Golden Swan Sect and Mulian Valley. She has suffered partial memory loss and is described as being controlled or coerced by the Poison Sect. Xiao Yan refuses to kill her, appeals to their shared memories, and invites her to Qingshan Teahouse at midnight 165.
At the teahouse, the Nether Lotus helps her recognize him. She explains that medicinal baths, forced Dou Qi suppression, and consultations with reclusive alchemists have failed to stop her worsening condition. Xiao Yan presents an ancient method for condensing her uncontrollable Origin Poison Power into a Poison Pill, restoring her hope 166.
She returns to the Poison Sect, planning to use her injury as an excuse to buy time for Xiao Yan’s retaliation against the other attacking factions 167. When the Myriad Scorpion Sect threatens her own sect, she accepts his help with depleted pill supplies and damaged defenses 168.
During the attack, Elders Liu and Chen betray her with poisoned weapons. Xiao Yan intervenes, and she counterattacks using her knowledge of Liu’s poison powder, Netherworld Steps, and her staff. Despite the betrayal and heavy casualties, she continues defending the sect against Xie Shan 169 170. After Xiao Yan is struck by the Soul Devouring Poison Needle, she uses her poison body and an ancient sealing scroll to contain the toxin temporarily 173.
Controlling the Poison Body
Xiao Yi Xian accompanies Xiao Yan through the Black Corner Region, protecting his alchemy room with layered poison formations and helping secure the Bodhi Body Transformation Saliva 177 180. She also assists in treating his severely damaged meridians after his use of Blood Sacrifice Melting Fire 184.
A later eruption again forces Xiao Yan to suppress her poison body. Their relationship deepens through renewed confessions, promises of protection, and an intimate night together; she becomes more willing to express her wish to remain by his side 193 194.
While waiting with Qing Lin at the Han Family, she is pursued by Ice River Valley. She fights back with her poison body, suffers injuries, and escapes through a secret passage. During the pursuit, she discovers the trail of a high-tier seventh-rank Scorpion Dragon Scorpion 222 223. After helping trap and defeat it, she extracts its magic core 224.
In the Ye Family’s forbidden grounds, she undergoes the Poison Pill refinement. Bodhi Body Transformation Saliva protects her meridians, the scorpion core draws out her poison energy, and Xiao Yan’s flames help condense it into a pill. She gathers even the scattered remnants into the pill, ending the uncontrolled backlash and gaining full command of her poison energy 226.
Starfall Pavilion and the Heavenly Mansion Alliance
At Starfall Pavilion, Xiao Yi Xian cultivates diligently, assists Yao Chen with alchemy, and becomes a core combatant whose medicine and poison arts are both essential 315. She and Qing Lin later return ahead of Xiao Yan to take charge when the pavilion faces trouble 330.
She treats wounded Flower Sect cultivators, helps repel a beast tide, and protects Xiao Yan against Soul Clan methods with her Vitality Poison Domain 346 348 352. During the attack on Starfall Pavilion, she targets Third Heavenly Venerate with a condensed poison pill while sending poison needles toward the other Soul Hall experts 358.
By Xiao Yan’s return to the Heavenly Mansion Alliance, she has reached Mid Half-Saint and has helped lead the alliance in his absence. She fights alongside him, Nalan Yanran, Yun Yun, Qing Lin, Han Xue, and Xun’er against Soul Hall’s invading force 397.
Appearance
- Clothing: Commonly wears simple white, pale green, or pale purple dresses. Some are embroidered with poisonous flowers or medicinal herbs 168 226 315 397.
- Face and hair: Has fair skin, black hair, and a gentle expression; illness sometimes leaves her complexion noticeably pale 166 356 397.
- Medicine basket: Frequently carries a woven bamboo basket while gathering herbs or working with medicine 20 315.
- Concealed face: Wears a woven bamboo hat with hanging gauze during her reunion with Xiao Yan at Qingshan Teahouse 166.
- Poison-body manifestation: Fully unsealing her constitution causes pale purple poison patterns to spread from her neck and arms across her body 183.
- Later aura: After mastering her constitution, her Poison Dou Qi becomes gentle and pure rather than cold and sinister 397.
Personality
Xiao Yi Xian’s medical work is driven by a desire to save others. Her first response to finding the Poison Scripture is excitement that she can treat more poisoned people and magical beasts. Elder Yao likewise praises her exceptional medical ability and lack of malicious intent 19 20.
Her greatest fear is losing control and injuring those around her. This leads her to isolate herself and leave Xiao Yan despite their affection. Years of failed treatment make her guarded and pessimistic, but his concrete plan for the Poison Pill restores her willingness to seek help 35 166.
As Sect Master, she is decisive and protective of her disciples, yet takes their suffering personally. Liu and Chen’s betrayal leaves her blaming herself for appointing them to important positions 167 169. In battle, she remains observant and restrained: when Old Man Mu Gu attempts to interfere secretly during the Flame Dragon fight, she counters him without distracting the group 250.
Abilities & Skills
Poison Body of Calamity
- Before mastery, appears ordinary between eruptions but can cause piercing agony and release poison dangerous to nearby living beings 34.

- Her transformed Calamity Poison is colorless and odorless, penetrates Dou Qi defenses, and can invade a Dou Zun expert’s meridians 248.
- Risks her life by activating the constitution fully to protect an injured Xiao Yan from Soul Hall’s Three-star Dou Zun 231.
Medicine and Pill Refinement

Poison Sealing
- Uses precisely controlled poison-body energy to restrain the Soul Devouring Poison Needle’s toxin within Xiao Yan 173.

- This treatment contains the poison temporarily rather than removing it; she advises continued Heavenly Flame tempering and recovery 173.
