On the Sharingan

The Sharingan's dynamic vision was, as everyone knew, essentially a slow-motion visual effect.

It allowed its user to see an opponent's movements and changes clearly within an extremely short span of time, enabling them to anticipate what the opponent was preparing to do.

What I wanted to analyze was the exact nature of this dynamic-vision enhancement.

First, we could establish that an elite Jonin's reaction speed was definitely faster than that of a Genin child (under normal comparisons, excluding nonhuman cheat-level freaks).

In other words, a speed that seemed incredibly fast to a Genin would actually be nothing special in a Jonin's eyes.

It was like the difference between a Genin with the Sharingan and one without it.

For a concrete example, during the first Chunin Ninja Exams, Rock Lee removed his weights and erupted with astonishing speed, leaving several of the rookies staring in shock.

Sasuke needed to activate the Sharingan to see Rock Lee's movements clearly, while Kakashi and the others watched with ease.

Especially Might Guy, a Taijutsu master whose reactions were exceptionally sharp—it was certain that he could see Rock Lee's movements perfectly.

In other words, at that time, even with the Sharingan activated, Sasuke could not possibly have reached the same level of reaction ability as Might Guy and the others.

As for the anime's portrayal, where Rock Lee moved like the wind and left no visible trace, that was because the viewpoint was Gaara's.

Taijutsu was Gaara's weakness, and reactions were not his strong suit. The Rock Lee we saw moving like the wind was Rock Lee from Gaara's perspective.

It was not Kakashi and the others' perspective.

It was only later, after Rock Lee opened the Fourth Gate, that Kakashi revealed his Sharingan to observe him.
