Ch. 61Shazam Is a Wizard!

Dane fought Harley at the Rock of Eternity, and she later woke beside him and offered to bring Poison Ivy into their relationship. Meanwhile, Ra's al Ghul surrendered himself and Talia to Blackgate Prison, warning Amanda Waller of a god's descent and the judgment it might bring.

  • Dane overpowered Harley in battle, then cleaned the scene and slept beside her.
  • Damian brought the unconscious Talia and Ra's al Ghul to Blackgate Prison, where Amanda Waller learned of their arrival and ordered them secured.
  • Ra's al Ghul broke his handcuffs during interrogation, told Waller that a god had descended and might bring judgment, then refused to answer more questions.
  • Waller ordered Ra's al Ghul sent to the prison's innermost section and Talia housed according to her threat level.
  • Harley woke beside Dane, pounced on him, and later suggested that Poison Ivy join them.
  • Dane declined Harley's offer and suspected that Harley and Harlene had willingly merged, while the Lazarus Pit had strengthened Harley's body.

Ch. 62A New Hero Has Appeared

Dane rescued Poison Ivy and offered Clark a cursed artifact to dull his heightened senses, while realizing his own magic made him more like a wizard than a conventional hero. In Seaside City, Hal Jordan was summoned by a green ring to a dying alien, who began explaining the ring as the chapter ended.

  • Harley reunited with Poison Ivy at Justice Hall, freeing Clark from Ivy's control.
  • Dane told Clark about a magical artifact that could reduce heightened senses and offered to let him try it.
  • Hal Jordan ruined Ferris Aircraft's drone demonstration by defeating two unmanned fighters and crashing an F35.
  • A green light carried Hal to a beach, where he found a dying red-skinned alien beside a crashed spacecraft.
  • The alien revealed a green ring, which flew from his finger as Hal listened.

Ch. 63Green Lantern

Hal Jordan became Earth’s first human Green Lantern after Abinsur passed the ring to him and died. The Justice League met Hal and introduced themselves after Dane recognized the alien spacecraft and brought a team to find him.

  • Abinsur gave Hal Jordan the Green Lantern ring, explained that he had become a protector of the universe, and died before the spacecraft exploded.
  • Hal survived the explosion, discovered that he could fly, and returned home, while Umbrella satellites detected an extraterrestrial energy signal.
  • Cortana alerted the Justice League to an unknown craft, and Dane identified it as Abinsur’s spacecraft and led Superman, Batman, and Diana to meet the new Green Lantern.
  • Hal’s ring lost its glow and he fell to the ground, where the arriving Justice League congratulated him and introduced themselves.
  • Dane explained that Superman was a Kryptonian, Batman was a famous Gotham figure, and Diana was an Amazon and daughter of Zeus and Hippolyta.

Ch. 64Green Lantern’s Light!

Dane explained the Green Lantern Corps to Hal Jordan, who returned home to consider whether to accept the ring. Meanwhile, a remnant from Abinsur’s wrecked ship infected Hector Hammond, awakening strange powers that he used against a student.

  • Dane described the Emotional Spectrum, the Green Lantern Corps, and Hal’s potential role, then gave him a communicator and urged him to consider the choice carefully.
  • Hal returned home and weighed the cost of becoming a Green Lantern while thinking of his loved ones and asking himself what his father would do.
  • Dane and the Justice League searched Abinsur’s crash site, found the spaceship and alien remains destroyed, and left before the police arrived.
  • A.R.G.U.S. brought Hector Hammond to inspect the wreckage, and an unnoticed yellow fragment crawled onto his body.
  • Hector developed yellow eyes and nightmares, then used an unseen power to lift and slam a student after being insulted before fleeing the classroom.

Ch. 65He’s from Earth

Hector Hammond's unstable Telekinesis endangered the guests at Ferris's celebration, prompting Hal Jordan to become Green Lantern and save Carol Ferris. Afterward, Hal asked Dane about his new responsibilities, while Dane explored the Ring World and found that Green Lantern energy might be connected to Creation Force.

  • Hector learned that his father looked down on him, and at Ferris's celebration he heard Councilman Hammond's inner thoughts criticizing him.
  • Hector used Telekinesis to attack Councilman Hammond's helicopter, and Hal put on the Lantern Ring and recited the Green Lantern Oath.
  • Hal stopped the helicopter with a giant green hand, then shielded Carol from its broken tail rotor and flew away.
  • Carol recognized Hal as Green Lantern, while Hector concealed a bloodied handkerchief marked with yellow energy.
  • Hal met Dane and asked what would happen next; Dane said the Green Lantern Corps might contact him or the ring might take him to Oa Star.
  • Dane entered the Ring World and discovered its potential for storing objects and imprisoning people, but could only determine that Green Lantern energy was linked to Creation Force.

Ch. 66The Power of Will

Dane examined Hal Jordan’s Green Lantern Ring and warned him that the Corps would soon come for him, while Sinestro secretly maneuvered to use Psimon against the Green Lantern Corps. Hal began training with Dane, Batman, Diana, and Superman, ending his first session with Superman’s punch and a question about why he had lost.

  • Dane confirmed Hal’s ring was fine, warned him that it had signaled Oa, and urged him to judge any Green Lantern who came for him.
  • On Oa, Sinestro identified Parallax as the likely enemy while concealing his role in Kanga’s theft of the Yellow Element and the release of Psimon.
  • Sinestro planned to use Psimon to weaken the Green Lantern Corps, then dismissed Hal’s Earth origin and left Kilowog to handle the rookie.
  • Hal chose to learn from Dane, who trained his imagination and willpower, while Batman taught him combat and Diana sparred with him.
  • Superman struck Hal with a single punch, exhausting his willpower, then asked him why he had lost.

Ch. 67There Are Three Green Lanterns

Hal became more skilled with his Green Lantern Ring and prepared to join the Justice League, but three Green Lanterns arrived on Earth and challenged his right to wield it. Dane intervened when the Corps members attacked Hal, leaving a confrontation between Dane and the visiting Lanterns.

  • Hal spent a week improving his ring constructs, and his training made him a stronger opponent for Diana.
  • Hal told Carol he planned to take a week off, then spotted three green figures entering Earth's atmosphere and called Dane.
  • Kilowog, Tomare, and Boodikka confronted Hal; Kilowog questioned his worthiness, and Hal fought back by breaking free of Kilowog's shackles.
  • Tomare joined the fight by sending a giant green trident at Hal, but Dane appeared and crushed the construct.
  • Dane rebuked the Green Lantern Corps for entering Earth without permission, and Tomare and Boodikka attacked him.

Ch. 68Giving In

Dane overwhelmed the Green Lanterns and exposed how their teamwork faltered under pressure, while their energy attacks barely affected him. He left Tomare defeated with Hal and faced Kilowog as Kilowog continued the fight.

  • Dane taunted Kilowog, Tomare, and Boodikka, then defeated their constructs and attacks while criticizing their scattered wills.
  • Dane used Mercury's Speed to strike Kilowog and shatter his energy shield, then blocked Tomare's mechanical gauntlets and evaded Boodikka's spear.
  • Kilowog, Tomare, and Boodikka combined their Green Lantern beams, but Dane emerged unharmed and seized Tomare as he flew away.
  • Dane threw the defeated Tomare toward Hal, who caught him and was sent flying, while Boodikka reconsidered Dane's hostility and Kilowog charged him.
  • Dane unleashed nearly a hundred punches in a second against Kilowog.

Ch. 69The Green Lantern Corps Has Been Wiped Out Yet Again! / Are You Eating My Family’s Rice?

After Dane protected Hal Jordan and warned the Green Lanterns to keep him safe, Hal traveled with Boodikka, Kilowog, and Tomare to Oa. Meanwhile, Sinestro led an elite force against Psimon, which devoured the Green Lanterns’ fear and left Sinestro to escape alone.

  • Dane caught Kilowog with a hand of seawater, and Boodikka explained that the Green Lanterns had come to bring Hal to Oa while the Guardians considered his membership.
  • Dane identified himself as Shazam, warned Boodikka and Tomare that Hal must return to Earth unharmed, and departed after displaying his power over the weather.
  • Sinestro led roughly three hundred elite Green Lanterns against Psimon, which broke their constructs, destroyed a moon, and drained the fear from nearly all of them.
  • Sinestro escaped Psimon through a green-energy wormhole, pleased by the yellow power and more confident in his plan to form a Yellow Lantern Corps.
  • Hal traveled with Boodikka, Kilowog, and Tomare to Oa and marveled at the planet’s many alien inhabitants.

Ch. 70A Heart Higher Than the Heavens

The Guardians debated whether Hal Jordan was worthy of joining the Green Lantern Corps, and Sinestro persuaded them to put Hal under his command. Sinestro then took Hal to the Sanctum, where he saw the Central Power Battery.

  • Kilowog and the others brought Hal to the Guardians, but the guards initially turned them away because the Guardians were meeting with Sinestro.
  • Hal learned that Sinestro had been the sole survivor of a mission where more than three hundred Green Lanterns died, then was admitted to the Guardians’ meeting.
  • The Guardians questioned Hal’s ability and disparaged humanity, but Hal defended his species and Ganthet argued that the Ring’s choice proved Hal had merit.
  • Sinestro asked to test Hal himself, and the Guardians placed Hal under his command.
  • Sinestro told Hal that Abinsur had been his best friend and took him to the Sanctum to see the Central Power Battery.

Ch. 71The Slacker Hunter

Hal Jordan underwent the Green Lantern Battery ritual under Sinestro’s guidance while Hector Hammond, transformed by yellow energy and connected to Psimon, warned Amanda Waller that an alien threat was coming. Dane alerted the Justice League that Psimon was approaching, and they began considering how to keep the enormous creature’s arrival from devastating Earth.

  • Sinestro forced Hal to absorb an overwhelming surge of information from the Central Power Battery and praised his potential as a warrior.
  • Dane learned that Hector Hammond had murdered his father and watched Amanda Waller question him at an A.R.G.U.S. laboratory.
  • Hector revealed that he could read Amanda’s thoughts and warned her that Psimon was coming.
  • Amanda ordered Hector held in isolation, while Dane summoned every Justice League member to prepare for Psimon.
  • Dane warned the League about the danger Psimon’s size posed to Earth, and Superman questioned how they could fight the creature near low Earth orbit.

Ch. 72Calvin Swankwick

Dane prepared the Justice League to fight Psimon and then met with Department of Defense generals to promote Pioneer Technology’s weapons. During the meeting, he secretly identified General Calvin Swankwick as the Martian Zonozz, leaving Swankwick shaken but keeping the encounter hidden from the others.

  • Dane explained that Umbrella had developed combat equipment combining Eternal Metal and Nth Metal so non-flying Justice League members could fight in the air.
  • Superman, Diana, Nightwing, and Barbara debated whether to alert the authorities about Psimon, and Dane proposed meeting the Martian serving in the military.
  • Psimon sensed fear energy from Hector and headed toward Earth, planning to grow stronger before attacking Oa Star.
  • Dane met with Sam Lane, General Ryan, and Calvin Swankwick to present Pioneer Technology’s weapons and discuss its business with the military.
  • Dane telepathically addressed Swankwick as the Martian Zonozz, then resumed the meeting without revealing their exchange to anyone else.

Ch. 73You Died

Dane revealed that he knew Swannick was Martian Manhunter, Zonozz, and used a constructed memory of Psimon's invasion to show him the threat Earth faced. The memory ended with Zonozz swallowed by Psimon's monsters, while Dane remained on the ground.

  • Dane demonstrated Vanguard's technological achievements to General Ryan and discussed the military's need for improved artificial intelligence.
  • Dane identified Swannick as Zonozz and invited him to experience his memories through telepathy.
  • Dane showed Zonozz a memory of Psimon descending on Seaside City and explained that the monster fed on fear and life force.
  • Psimon attacked Seaside City, dissolving civilians and unleashing thousands of yellow monsters as the city fell into chaos.
  • Zonozz transformed into Martian Manhunter and attacked Psimon, but his powers failed to hurt it.
  • Psimon's monsters overwhelmed Zonozz and swallowed him.

Ch. 74Who Goes Into a Fight Without a Little Spark?

Dane used a terrifying vision of Psimon defeating Zonozz to test the Martian Manhunter, then invited him to join the Justice League. Zonozz agreed and left to help prepare Seaside City for Psimon’s arrival, while Dane worried that his fear of fire could make him vulnerable.

  • Dane’s vision showed Psimon exploiting Zonozz’s fear of fire, burning him and draining his life essence.
  • Zonozz awoke in reality and asked Dane whether the vision was real; Dane said it showed what would happen in the future.
  • Dane introduced himself as Shazam and asked Zonozz to join the Justice League, and Zonozz agreed to protect Earth.
  • Dane told Zonozz to use his military position to evacuate Seaside City and move Hector Hammond, who carried the yellow energy Psimon was following, out to sea.
  • Zonozz flew off to make preparations, while Dane considered his fear of fire a serious weakness if Psimon reached Earth.

Ch. 75A Clash of Ideals / Hal's Will

Hal discovered that Sinestro maintained Korugar’s apparent peace through fear, harsh punishments, and absolute control, and rejected his methods as tyranny. After Sinestro restrained him during their argument, Hal broke free and confronted him as they clashed in the sky.

  • Sinestro invited Hal to Korugar, claiming its crime-free society could teach him how to create peace.
  • Hal saw that Korugarians feared Sinestro and went undercover to investigate their lives.
  • Hal witnessed a poor man punished brutally for taking extra free rations and realized Sinestro ruled through tyranny.
  • Hal confronted Sinestro, who defended strict control as the only way to preserve order and argued that free will could threaten it.
  • Hal asked whether the Green Lantern Corps knew about Sinestro’s rule; when Sinestro stayed silent, Hal broke free of his grip.
  • Sinestro attacked by creating a huge green meteorite and sending it plunging toward Hal.

Ch. 76Parallax Attacks!

Hal fought Sinestro on Korugar, where the Rebel Army prepared to launch an uprising after seeing the two Lanterns disappear. While Sinestro tortured Hal, Dane helped him confront his faltering will; Hal recited the Green Lantern oath, broke Sinestro’s restraints, and faced him with renewed resolve.

  • Hal created a wormhole that sent him, Sinestro, and a meteor into space, while Korugar’s Rebel Army ordered its forces to attack that day.
  • Hal countered Sinestro’s attacks with ring constructs, but Sinestro overwhelmed him, bound him, and inflicted mental torment.
  • Dane drew Hal into a mental world he had prepared and questioned why Hal’s willpower had failed against Sinestro’s.
  • Hal remembered the Green Lantern oath and unleashed enough willpower to shatter Sinestro’s restraints and blast him away.
  • Sinestro challenged Hal again with a solid-light drill, and Hal stood firm rather than dodge.

Ch. 77The Justice League Mobilizes

Hal defeated Sinestro, but Sinestro escaped after warning that a monster was heading for Earth. As Psimon approached Seaside City, the Justice League mobilized, while Amanda Waller finally acknowledged the threat and contacted Martian Manhunter.

  • Hal overwhelmed Sinestro, who abandoned his power ring and vanished in a burst of yellow light after warning that Earth was the monster's target.
  • Psimon emerged from a wormhole near Neptune and fixed his gaze on Earth.
  • Dane summoned the Justice League, which learned that Psimon was heading toward Earth and that Seaside City's evacuation was going poorly.
  • Martian Manhunter reported that Amanda Waller had hidden Hector and that an Nth Metal artifact blocked his telepathy.
  • Hawkman spotted the approaching creature, warned Amanda, and urged her to evacuate Seaside City, but she said moving millions of people would require a month.
  • Amanda called Martian Manhunter during the League's meeting and apologized, admitting that her people had confirmed the threat.

Ch. 78Battle

As Psimon approached Earth, Amanda Waller sought the Justice League’s help, and Dane led the team into space to confront it. Dane challenged Waller over her failure to move Hector, Psimon’s intended bait, overseas.

  • J'onn suggested that Amanda contact the Justice League while keeping his military identity secret.
  • Amanda learned that Psimon had reached the Earth-Moon system and called the Justice League for help.
  • Dane led the Justice League’s space-ready fighters toward Psimon while Barbara, the spellcasters, and Enchantress remained on Earth.
  • Amanda asked Dane to save Seaside City, and he said protecting its residents was her responsibility.
  • Dane asked Amanda whether she had moved Hector overseas as General Swannick had advised.

Ch. 79Both Divine and a Pitfall

The Justice League battled Psimon, and Superman and Martian Manhunter entered its body to reach the little blue man inside. The little blue man fought J'onn with a yellow-light duplicate and discovered that removing J'onn's helmet disrupted him.

  • Dane led the Justice League's attack on Psimon while Batman, Nightwing, and Red Hood targeted its eyes from their fighters.
  • Psimon's fear energy enraged Superman, who charged into Psimon's body and smashed through the creatures blocking his path.
  • J'onn followed Superman inside and located the little blue man at Psimon's core.
  • Psimon pulled Superman out, but J'onn continued toward the little blue man.
  • The little blue man created a yellow-light duplicate of Martian Manhunter and used telekinesis to knock J'onn off balance.
  • The little blue man removed J'onn's helmet and realized that it was his weakness.

Ch. 80Where Is Our Army?

Dane killed the possessed alien inside Psimon and rescued Martian Manhunter, but Parallax survived as an instinctive Lantern beast and descended toward Seaside City. As the Justice League struggled to stop it, Hector broke free from his prison transport and killed the guards.

  • Dane used Shazam's lightning and the Kiss of Death to kill the little yellow alien, then extinguished the flames burning Martian Manhunter.
  • Dane and Martian Manhunter discovered that the alien corpse was falling and that Parallax remained active inside it.
  • Dane warned the Justice League that Parallax was now acting on instinct and targeting Earth, then joined Martian Manhunter in trying to stop it.
  • Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Red Hood, and Nightwing attacked Parallax as it plunged toward Seaside City, while Dane trapped it in a thunderstorm.
  • Amanda saw Parallax blot out the sky over Seaside City, and Hector tore open the prison transport and killed the special forces soldiers with their own bullets.
