Eight-Leaf Heavenly Fiend nodded.
"Congratulations, milord! By killing Xu Yan, you have rendered a great service toward restoring the glory of Heaven and Earth!"
The newcomer offered his congratulations in wild delight.
The corners of Eight-Leaf Heavenly Fiend's mouth twitched beneath his mask. His palm began aching again, and his shoulder hurt even more. It even seemed that the mere mention of Xu Yan had made the trace of sword-path power within him grow restless.
"Xu Yan isn't dead!"
"What?"
The newcomer wore an expression of utter shock. Eight-Leaf Heavenly Fiend had personally taken action, yet had still failed to kill Xu Yan?
Then, with a flash of insight, he said, "Milord, you captured Xu Yan alive? Which faction are you planning to frame?"
That was it!
Lord Eight-Leaf Heavenly Fiend had not killed Xu Yan because he intended to pin the blame for his death on another faction?
"I did not capture Xu Yan."
"What?"
The newcomer was stunned.
"Milord, has Xu Yan already become this powerful? You personally took action, yet still couldn't deal with him?"
Eight-Leaf Heavenly Fiend stared coldly at him and snorted. "What nonsense are you spouting? Had I acted, Xu Yan would have been mine for the taking!"
"Then why?"
The other man looked utterly baffled.
"After careful deliberation, I decided that capturing and killing Xu Yan would be far too simple, and would not stir the storms of the Divine Realm. After turning it over again and again, I suddenly found a method better than personally attacking Xu Yan."
The newcomer immediately let out a breath of relief. So that was it—he had nearly died of fright, thinking that even Lord Eight-Leaf Heavenly Fiend could not deal with Xu Yan.
"Milord, what brilliant plan do you have?"
