Inside the Holy Grail's inner world.
Mo Li lay back in a beach chair and said casually, "How long are you planning to keep me here, Justicia?"
Justicia chuckled. "Hehe, you've only been here a little while and you're already impatient? Didn't you keep saying you liked me? Why are you in such a hurry?"
Mo Li smiled as well. "Because this place is boring. Want to play some games? Even if you give me some long-winded speech, you know I'm not going to listen to your ill-intentioned nonsense."
"Play games?" Justicia was somewhat curious. She was an antique who had been half-dead for centuries, and even the Fourth Holy Grail War was only in 1994. Naturally, she had no way of knowing what Mo Li meant. Otherwise, she would not be the Third Magic Heaven's Feel, but the Root itself.
"Yeah." To Justicia's surprise, Mo Li pulled out two laptops, keyboards, mice, and chargers from beside him.
Justicia asked in surprise, "You have spatial abilities?"
"I do. Though we're deep inside a mountain, and even inside the Holy Grail's inner world, so normally it'd be impossible for us to have internet, mana and magecraft can handle everything. Justicia, give us two desks and chairs first."
"Okay~" Justicia shifted her gaze, and two plain desks and chairs appeared wherever she looked.
Mo Li helped charge Justicia's laptop and placed it on her side, then set up his own.
Mo Li turned on both computers. "Come on, sit down and take a look. Experience some modern games. This is a game I helped develop, after all. Do me a favor and give it a try."
Justicia sat in her seat, watching Mo Li's actions curiously as she considered whether she should simply corrode the things he had taken out.
However, what appeared on the computer screen made her temporarily abandon that thought.
Seeing that the computer he had modified really did have internet access, Mo Li finally breathed a sigh of relief. Then he opened CS 1.6 for her. "This game is simple. It gets boring easily too, but it's extremely easy for newcomers to pick up. As the Black Grail, I assume you don't have issues like slower reflexes than ordinary people."
Although Justicia was an antique who had been dead for centuries, what was before her now did not trouble her at all. "So lots of ordinary people play this game? I see many rooms marked as full."
After finding a suitable room, Mo Li helped Justicia enter the match. It was a sixteen-player Dust II room, and the game was counting down to the start.
"Yeah, lots of people play it. You're on my side right now. If you want to fight me, I can switch you to the other side. While there's still time, I'll teach you the controls and key points."
"I don't want to fight you for now. I want to see how people in this era entertain themselves."
By the time the countdown ended, Mo Li's lesson was over as well. CS was relatively simple; for Justicia, one explanation was enough to learn it, and she became proficient the moment she started. Knowledge of the map itself was another matter.
The pistol round began. Looking at the purchase menu, Justicia asked, "Which gun has the greatest firepower right now?"
"The Desert Eagle."
Justicia bought a Desert Eagle and ammunition, leaving little money left. Mo Li bought a USP, half armor, and spare ammunition.
When he saw Justicia head straight for Mid Doors, Mo Li silently followed.
The instant she entered Mid Doors, Justicia's physical capabilities, far beyond those of humans, let her spot the head exposed through a narrow gap on the other side. She flicked her aim, and a terrorist's head blossomed.
The people opposite T spawn froze. A Desert Eagle one-tap headshot straight down Mid at the start?
Either a skilled player or a hacker. Either way, they had to stick together.
The CTs were stunned as well. Had ten seconds even passed since the round started? A Desert Eagle opening headshot was downright vicious.
"So easy~" Justicia remarked generously as she headed toward A Doors.
"Of course it's easy against ordinary people. Wait, fall back—grenade." Mo Li followed close behind Justicia when he suddenly heard the sound of someone pulling a pin.
Justicia immediately complied. Just as the two retreated, a flashbang came from ahead while a grenade flew out from Mid near T spawn. No matter where they retreated, they would be hit by at least one piece of utility.
Mo Li reminded her, "Turn from the flash! You watch Mid, I'll watch A Doors."
The two reacted instantly. The second after the utility exploded, four terrorists rushed out from Mid and the T-side of A Doors.
Amid a crisp burst of three-round fire, several distinct single shots rang out.
Four terrorist heads blossomed.
Looking at her remaining eighty-three health, Justicia said, "I still couldn't kill them instantly... This game's maximum values are too slow. If there were no upper limit, I could do this without taking damage."
Mo Li looked at his own thirteen health in speechless frustration. "Justicia, they were aiming at me. I got hit by the grenade earlier too. It's only because they didn't land their three-round headshots properly. Otherwise, I'd already be out of the round."
"My, my~ How tragic~ Come on, let's go catch the remaining three~"
Mo Li glanced around and did not spot the bomb carrier. "They don't have many routes left. Either they've gone to B to plant, but our teammates are guarding that site, or they're still camping us back at spawn."
At that moment, the three terrorists in the back garden who were preparing to rush a site were completely dumbfounded. Their four teammates had used tactical utility and still been taken down by two people? Ridiculous!
The terrorist captain said, "Fall back. I want to see what kind of gods these are. Even if we have to die for it, we'll take down those two CTs who pushed into our spawn from Mid!"
The other two had no objections. They had already lost this pistol round anyway, so they might as well go back and test their opponents' strength.
After several more shots, three more heads burst open. Mo Li, who had been lurking nearby to finish off anyone Justicia failed to kill, praised her, "Every shot hit its mark, Justicia."
From start to finish, she had only reloaded once before wiping out all eight terrorists.
When the next round began, the six people at CT spawn could no longer hold back while buying equipment during the countdown.
"Bro, what kind of legend are you? Seven Desert Eagle kills—that's insane!"
Justicia turned her head toward Mo Li. She did not want to speak with other people; it was simply in her nature, and those people were not participants in the Holy Grail War.
Mo Li pressed the key to speak into the microphone. "I'm just here chilling with a friend."
"Who are you?"
"Wait, I just searched both their names. I don't know who the Desert Eagle player is, but the other one is the boss of the game company behind Dynasty Warriors and Blue Archive! That unique account ID can't be fake!"
"Damn! A game company boss from another game personally playing with us? Then that friend he brought along has to be a pro player!"
"That amateur team on the other side is so screwed~"
"It's just that, for some reason, this game doesn't allow cheats. Otherwise, I'd have suspected you two of cheating just now. Now that the misunderstanding's cleared up."
The terrorist side had also looked up the relevant information, and they found it hard to keep a straight face after seeing it.
Terrorist team: "Forget it. At least they personally joined in and even brought a pro player. Let's keep playing and see just how big the gap is between us and that Desert Eagle prince. We can treat this as a chance to practice our coordination and substitutions. Let's rush faster this time. We won't necessarily run into that pro player at the start of every round."
The terrorists: "Alright!"
After fifteen rounds, the terrorists did not win a single one. Because Justicia was arrogant and looked down on everyone, she bought guns and armor and charged straight in, getting blown away by tactical equipment several times. However, Mo Li was highly experienced. Whenever his teammates held off the enemy fire, he would inherit Justicia's gear and clean up the battlefield.
Still wanting more, Justicia said, "Hmm... that was pretty fun. Is there anything more fun?"
"Yes. The 2D paper-doll mode. You can turn into a paper cutout and stick yourself to walls to hide. In this mode, you won't be able to rack up kills like you just did." Mo Li led Justicia into a room in paper mode.
Other than the characters becoming chibi versions, their entire bodies were as thin as actual sheets of paper and could stick to walls at will.
"So now I need to start distinguishing enemies hidden within the terrain." Justicia quickly understood, then continued into the match with her Desert Eagle in hand.
Mo Li continued following Justicia. She might not buy any utility, but she would definitely maximize her firepower. Even if she only bought half armor, she would make sure her firepower was maxed out. Staying beside her to provide cover also meant he could wait to inherit her estate.
Just as Mo Li had expected, camping was also a viable playstyle. No matter how fiercely Justicia fought, she would eventually be punished by campers.
The problem was not Justicia's reactions. Anywhere she looked, she spotted enemies instantly. But there was nothing she could do about bullets flying in from places she had not seen.
In this mode, campers preferred to lurk in spots that were difficult to reach in normal mode. As long as players did not check their corners carefully, the kills were practically guaranteed.
Compared to Justicia, Mo Li died fewer times.
Meanwhile, in another space, Angra Mainyu began to grow restless.
Angra Mainyu paced back and forth anxiously. "What exactly is that woman doing? Something isn't right outside. Don't tell me she needs that much time just to deal with one person!"
Suddenly, All the World's Evil, which should have already mixed with the Grail's mana, transformed into wisps of black smoke and began to drift away.
"What's going on?!" Angra Mainyu stared at everything before him in surprise.
Outside the Grail.
Medea said to everyone present, "I'm separating the Grail from the mana it has accumulated. It will take some time. That mana has all been contaminated and cannot be kept. As long as I expel it completely, and no more mana continues to flow into the Grail during this period, All the World's Evil can be purged. Don't do anything reckless that might interfere with me!"
"Alright, don't worry..." Mash Kyrielight leaned on her shield beside her, breathing heavily. After fighting Artoria, she was not only physically exhausted; she was mentally drained as well.
Artoria looked at the Greater Grail. "Mo Li still hasn't come out. Is that really alright?"
Medea simply replied, "It's fine."
Irisviel asked curiously, "Come to think of it, how are you purifying the Grail, Miss Medea?"
Medea said, "I am splitting the entire Greater Grail system into several independently operating systems. While ensuring that they can continue maintaining their original functions, I will dismantle and replace the contaminated systems."
